Keg in CBC Clapham. Bright hazy Amber, big white head. Nose is big lovely funky, light farmyard, fruity yeast ester, crisp saison yeast, lemon, meringue, white sugar. Taste is lemon, funky, fruity esters, slight straw and grassy. A very good American saison.

Fra fat på Mandag i annen, Cardinal april-15: dette ser ut til å bli kvelden for de gode fatøl! Her finner jeg en interessant mix av pepper og citrus i både aroma og smak (kanskje et godt øl til fårikål?). Fint karbonert. Lang ettersmak, en virkelig god og pepperfrisk øl med pikant syre.

Tap at Cardinal. Pours hazy straw colored with a big creamy white head. Aroma is yeasty with a nice Brett presence, some pepper as well. Taste is moderate dry, lots of yeasty notes, almost too much and overwhelming, but interesting enough to be enjoyable.

From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 20.04.15. Very cloudy, pale, greyish yellow. Diminishing white head. Sour and complex aroma and tastr, with hints of succade and pepper.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Distinct aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, wine yeast, lemons and green and black peppercorns. The flavour is medium dry, a slight acidity but not really sour, distinctly yeasty, with loads of green and black peppercorns. Not very bitter. Unusual and interesting, but maybe too yeasty?

The first beer they brewed and still one of their flagships with a goal of being a super dry saison. It pours an inviting mellow gold with a thick creamy white head of foam that lingers. The nose is exactly what I want out of a saison funk, fruits, spice & everything nice. Lively carbonation that sparkles in your mouth. The taste is much funkier/earthier than I was expecting. It has a sweet tart fruity quality that morphs into a Brett like sour funk with a super-dry finish(take that Asahi!). A decent Belgian style saison with a nice aroma.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a Duvel snifter. Hazy gold color with a minimal white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, brett, yeast, and pineapple on the nose. Tart at first then the sweetness jumps out on the palate leading to a dry finish that is a bit boozy. Creamy mouthfeel with a slightly thin mouthfeel. There is a little pepper that stands out as well but mellows as it warms up to room temperature. This is a very complex saison with a lot going on, but it manages to stay together well.
