COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

Bottle (16.9 oz). Pours a medium, hazy straw gold, creamy white head with excellent retention and solid lacing. Nose is funky Brett, barnyard, straw, earthy, minerals, daffodils. Mouth is medium full, creamy, tart up front, mellows out mid-range, chardonnay, dry grape juice, breadiness, hay, lemongrass. A very nice sour that I’m drinking on an empty stomach... but it’s good enough to be liquid dinner at 1:30 in the AM.

On tap at pour. Have not been disappointed by this brewery yet. Hits all the right notes for me: interesting, refreshing, and I-want-more. Pours a hazy golden. Saison notes are there but right alongside the sour and the funk. Subtle all around. Really well balanced. Citrus as well as notes of white wine. Love the tartness happening. Lots of bubbles. Delicious.

On tap at Local Cantina in Clintonville. Orange gold pour with thin off-white ring. Aroma of lemon and funk. Tastes are light even tartness - spice, grass, yeasty, wheat. Very nice.

Hazy lemon yellow pour with two fingers of white head. Very nice aroma, funky and tannic with some peachy notes and a bright acidity. Very tart in the mouth with a soft tannic bite and round carbonation. Tropical fruit and vinous with a light body and dry finish.

Pours a cloudy straw color with a small white head with tiny bubbles that settles to a bit of film and ring and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma of light lemon, wet hay and a mild spiciness. Taste of lemon zest, mild tartness followed by sweetness, earthy funk that comes across with a bit of perceived spiciness and finishes with some white grape and a nice breadiness. Finishes dry and slightly tart. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and effervescent carbonation. Not as tart as I expected which was fine. Also not very complex but still mouthwatering and good.

Bottle to glass. Infected. Absolute foam explosion. After that settled down, pours a very hazy yellow light apricot color with an off white fizzy head. Aroma is slightly sweet, nice barnyard funk, but really no tartness. Flavor has a touch of sweet and funk, but again, no sour. Overall a decent beer, but wish it wouldn’t have exploded. Would also like a little more sour.

500 ml bottle. The bottle is a gusher, so watch out. Pours a hazed golden with a medium white head. Aroma of dust, tropical fruits, farm, some citrus notes. Flavor is sour and sweet. Medium palate, slick bodied, above average carbonation. A bit of a coating mouthfeel. Finishes with hay and bready sweetness.

500ml bottle, from Dutch’s. Bottle foamed a bit while opening. Hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head, fizzes away to minimal. Smooth, kind of soft, light to moderate carbonation. Mildly dry. Nice oaky lemony aroma. Sort of peppery and spicy. Belgian saison yeast. Satisfying moderate-plus sour taste. Light to moderate sweet. Light bitter. Nice mild dry finish. Tasty stuff. Nice to sip alongside my Penn Station Philadelphia Cheese Steak.
