COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours slightly hazy gold with a slight fizzy white head. Aroma is funky and fruity. Near full bodied. It really is winey and peary, with some follow on lemon. Itís also rather mouthsmackingly earthy. Very refined. Finishes funky/grapey. Amazing ale.

Hazy gold pour, white head. I love the mix of funk, light hops, great yeasty qualitites, lemony notes and fluffy mouthfeel. Really a damn solid beer that I will be happy to drink more of.

A - pours a glowing light straw. Very effervescent with 1 finger white tight bubbled head. S - smells very funky. Eggs, sulfur, vinegar. Quiet straw, pineapple, apple and candied sugar. Very funky. M - light and crisp. Bright carb. Round and smooth, nice transitions to the tart end. T - citrus, bright tart pineapple, grasses. Light yeast and sulfur on the palate. Lingering sweet citrus and tart vinegar notes. Lingering sweet citrus and sugars. O - very good on the mouth, the nose leaves a little to be desired. Bottle courtesy of Chase at Saint Somewhere Priarie Night. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is some malt, some funk, some barnyard, some tart lemon and citrus with hints of vinous fruit. Flavor is similar with a nice vinous quality, some funk, and hints of tart fruit. Very nice wild with lingering tart in the finish.

Dull, light, hazy yellow. Aroma of funk, Brett, herbs, candied florals, tart lemon rind, and tart yellow apple. Flavors of candied citrus, lemon heads, candied florals, tart yellow apples, and cotton candy? Tart, sour and mouthwatering. Light and medium-light bodied. Kinda lambic/Gueuze-ish, with a twist. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Pours an intensely cloudy straw color. White head that starts off quite vigorous, but ends abruptly. Nose smells like the ghetto of funkytown... Intense funk, cheese, KC and the sunshine band. Taste reveals this to be light on the sour but heavy in the funk. Some grape taste, some white pepper, some sweaty balls, but really, really funky. Not quite sour enough for my preferences, but seriously funky. A beautiful beer, no doubt.

Pours a sort of pale straw color. Itís not really gold, more of a dull yellow lightly tinged with orange. Very cloudy. Itís opaque, just a solid glass of matte yellow. The fizzy white head fades to nothing in about a minute. Not even a few bubbles are left. No lacing. The aroma is heavy on the lacto. Itís yogurty with lemon juice and rind. Iím getting a briny note, as well. Some earth and funk, but itís underneath all of that lemon-lime yogurt. Thereís some nice grain character, backing up the sour. Maybe a little wheat spice, along with doughy bread. Iím also getting some more underlying fruitiness - pineapple, green grapes, papaya and apples. The taste starts with doughy malt sweetness and a floral, lemony character. The middle is tart, but the malt sticks around. It still seems fairly wheaty, though I have no idea if thatís actually present in the beer. Lots of yogurt character. Very dry in the finish with lots of lemon rind. The sourness builds through each sip. It certainly tastes like a big Berliner, but itís not sweet or boozy. Thereís just more malt character, and it blends in surprisingly well. The mouthfeel is also fairly different from a Berliner. Itís relatively creamy and full. Itís still quite tart, but for a Berliner-ish beer, itís fairly full. Carbonation starts out pretty fizzy, though. Itís a tasty sour. They pushed up the body of the beer without losing the Berliner character. Very easy to drink. Quite refreshing. Not the most complex beer, but I like it a lot.

Bottle. Pours with a lightly hazed very pale yellow hued body with a large white head that fades relatively quickly to the acidity. Aromas are very citrus forward: tangerine italian soda, rustic funk, agave, light oak lactone, sunflower seeds, tangello, grapefruit/citrus pith. A bit grassy. Flavors are moderately acidic and extremely clean (both in ester content and lactic acid). Tart and refreshing, lots of citrus notes, specifically a tangerine like acidity and zest. Yogurty, some minerality. Medium-light acidity overall. Lively carbonation with a dry finish.
