Pour out of 750 mL bottle, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice peach, hints of pineapple, mango, nice spice, yeast, hints of earth, slight white fruit. Taste is a mix of white fruit, tart mango, lots of peach, nice apricot, finishing fairly sweet, slight peach, pear, hints of more peach. Wow.

Super fresh bottle, as in no more than a week or two old. Like all the other Prairie Ales, it's just too flowery for my tastes. I don't know what this taste I'm tasting is, but encounter it in some saisons and some wit. Meh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 FlacoAlto (3450) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 14, 2013
A steady pour into my New Belgium tulip produces a two-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a pretty, amber / copper color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright, yellow, copper color when held up to the light. The nose smells nice and hoppy with lots of tropical fruit and light herbal notes; this is backed by a a touch of dried straw like grain character, a touch of peppery spiciness, and some soft musty yeast notes. Lychee, kumquat, guava, peppery citrus, peach nectar, and super ripe tangelo zest are backed by a hint of dank hoppy character, and some herbal spice notes.
The beer is quite dry, but with all the hop character and boosting yeast esters, it has a perceived sweetness due to all the fruity hop notes. Effervescent, a bit prickly with its carbonation, but the beer is quite light bodied; dangerously quaffable at 7% ABV even. The finish has a mix of bitter hops, a touch of spicy higher alcohols, some dry peppery notes, and a touch of herbal astringency to it. The dryness reduces the ripeness and pungency of the fruit character that is noticeable in the nose, but the hop fruit character is still easily the most dominant character here; tangelo zest, lychee, floral peach notes, touches of carnations, peppery floral notes, and lots of floral nectar like notes. The second pour that picks up some yeast sediment is a touch more bitter, and has slight, earthy, yeast bite to it.
This is a really nice example of a hop forward Saison. The yeast character is perhaps a touch too clean for my tastes (is this a French Saison derivative yeast strain), but it still provides enough character to balance out the dominant hop character. Note the most complex nor contemplative beer in the world, but thoroughly enjoyable and quite tasty, I definitely like the hop choice here too, and it is nice that it is not overly bitter, but is still bursting with hop flavor, yet is very well balanced between tropical / citrus fruit notes and floral character.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 sebletitje (5415) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAY 14, 2013
75cl bottle split wth Tomaz @ home.

This is my first beer from Prairie, and hopefully won’t be the last. Hazy golden amber pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is tart and slightly grainy. Lemon pith, lemongrass, lime leaf, honey. Flavor is lightly acidic up front, lending a tart, bright character. Lemon and lime, with lightly floral hops. Toast and grass. I wouldn’t call it "funk" but there’s definitely yeast character to it that’s almost funky. Reminds me of stuff like Jolly Pumpkin or Fantome with that bright, expressive, fresh tart Belgian character. I could probably find notes of just about any citrus fruit I looked for. Just that right balance where the hops are clearly bringing out and highlighting the natural fruity notes of the saison without just tasting like a beer with a bunch of hops dumped in it. Hits that spot that makes your mouth water and crave sip after sip. Honestly a bit thick and heavy for a hot summer day, but great with a meal of fish. Carbonation is on the light side, but I probably wouldn’t want to up it for fear that it would take away from the way that the acidity lingers on the tongue.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy, deep golden with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, spicy yeast, light fruits, and pale and caramel malts. Flavor the same with a nice hoppy finish. Average texture. A good hoppy, Belgian-style beer.
