COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

3fourths (8238) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 7, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2013 750ml bottle. cloudy semi-dark wheat colored body with a billowy and sitcky white head. strongly floral nose with a lot of potpourri, dish soap, wax, mango and peach notes; very yeast-heavy. the vanilla candle wax and tropical fruit esters begin to grow as it breathes, and though my first impression (cold from the bottle) was nice, as it arrives around 55 F there is an ester amplification. I have to say it’s more a design problem than execution. medium to medium-full body; medium aicd; strongly tart; yeast and chalk texture with a lot of gummi malt sugars. an abundance of tropical / fruity American hops appears through the ester cloud, but the core is bitter pine sap. even with a careful pour it’s all in suspension. perhaps you have to sit these bottles upright for a week to settle them out. so here is a beer that I would call more of raw unfiltered wheat IPA (wheat or not, the malt and yeast share similarities with Hefeweizen, flavor-wise) than anything I would call Saison. I like the effort, it has the fundamentals right to land somewhere in the area of XX Bitter (mostly pale malt, strong hop expression, Belgian yeast); but the use of American hops and doughy yeast turns it into a very bitter ester-bomb. the malt texture seems smooth by comparison to all of this, so it’s one of the things I like most about this beer.

Very hazy blonde and copper coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of funk, Brett, higher a.a. hops, a bit of malt and some nice sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a nice and defined hop flavour and more Brett funkiness than I expected. Good rich aftertaste with some malt and sugars, but the yeastie and hop flavours dominate. Overall, a nice beer to sample that shows pretty much everything you’d expect from an IPA made by Choc. I sampled this 12 ounce snifter poured on draught at TapWerks in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For US$7,00 on 12-September-2014.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with thick rocky head. Aroma is delightful and hoppy. Lots of citrus. Can almost taste the beer with your nose. In fact, I might rather smell it than taste it. Flavor is nice. Hoppy but not overpowering. A little spicy. Ground pepper with slight but pleasant tongue burn. Empty dry finish but the kind of understated flavor (at least compared to the aroma) that I like. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

neongolden (560) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 6, 2014
(500ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Dec 4 2014) Pours a hazy pale golden orange with a moderate, lacy white head. Aroma nice dank American farmhouse, where cut grass, mango, peach, citrus pith and peel balance with a little herbal/peppery spice and nice kick of barnyard funk. Palate at first has a core of sweetish lightly honeyed malts with a light white bread/cracker grain that is mostly obscured by hops, peach, mango, citrus zest, wet grass, herbs. A bit of barnyard horse blanket funk builds in the middle, making it clear this is a saison, but not overpowering. Moving into the finish the hops persist but the character gains more peppercorn/herbal spiciness, a little grain, yeasty/fruity characters partly drowned by a moderate bitterness. Finishes pretty dry and lightly mineral with some astringency. Light-medium mouthfeel with effervescent carb. This is a pretty nice American farmhouse, good hop character, maybe needs to get a little yeastier or be fresher on the hops, but nicely cleanses the palate without being bland.

Bottle pored into a 2nd Anni Prairie Teku -- A very active beer with two finger white pillowy foam on top of a cloudy straw colored beer. This is my second favorite Saison of Prairie’s behind Standard. Very good.

Appearance: clear orangey gold (significantly muddied with additional pours drawing forth the lees), with a nice dense, slowly shrinking bright white head. Aroma: bright nose full of citrus and tropical fruit, with an assertive lemongrass kick and a hint of earthy funk; citra use is clear in the aroma. Taste: lemon zest and orange, with mango, light pineapple, maybe some tangerine; slightly sweet crackery malts with a hint of honey; slight yeasty funk (less than in a typical saison); good hops on the back end, with citrus balanced by a bit of pine and earth. Finish: very dry, with lingering hops taking on a slightly grassy character. Notes: First experience with this brewery. This was a pretty special beer. Not overly hopped, so the prominent Belgian notes weren’t subsumed to the Americanization. Would drink again. Bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida.
