3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2013 750ml bottle. cloudy semi-dark wheat colored body with a billowy and sitcky white head. strongly floral nose with a lot of potpourri, dish soap, wax, mango and peach notes; very yeast-heavy. the vanilla candle wax and tropical fruit esters begin to grow as it breathes, and though my first impression (cold from the bottle) was nice, as it arrives around 55 F there is an ester amplification. I have to say itís more a design problem than execution. medium to medium-full body; medium aicd; strongly tart; yeast and chalk texture with a lot of gummi malt sugars. an abundance of tropical / fruity American hops appears through the ester cloud, but the core is bitter pine sap. even with a careful pour itís all in suspension. perhaps you have to sit these bottles upright for a week to settle them out. so here is a beer that I would call more of raw unfiltered wheat IPA (wheat or not, the malt and yeast share similarities with Hefeweizen, flavor-wise) than anything I would call Saison. I like the effort, it has the fundamentals right to land somewhere in the area of XX Bitter (mostly pale malt, strong hop expression, Belgian yeast); but the use of American hops and doughy yeast turns it into a very bitter ester-bomb. the malt texture seems smooth by comparison to all of this, so itís one of the things I like most about this beer.

Very lemon like citrus aroma. A little spice. Sharp bitter upfront. Very dry. A little tart. Some spiciness, but itís not too intense. Very very light malty flavors. A little cloudy. Nice light body

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 500 ml bottle. Hazy, bright orange pour, soft, bubbly white head, a bit of lacing. Aroma has some sweet fruity notes. peaches and apricots come to mind. Full-bodied fruity flavor, pick up some nectarine notes, some raw cake mix sweetness, some coriander spiciness, some bitter hoppy goodness. Nice, thick rich mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2016 Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a two-finger white head. The aroma is dense with tropical fruits and the taste really isn?t shy! The fruits are gathered along with the Belgian style foundation which I usually relate to sweetish boozy licorice, blending very well with the hops. One of the best hoped light beers I?ve had in a while.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Florida
Just a touch of hazy in a light golden color with a huge frothy bone white head that shows great retention. Aromas of light earthy funk with bits of sweet citrus and caramel. Light bits of metal are a bit distracting. Decent brew.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark golden pour with thick foam. Grassy aroma with elements of fruit. Mild yeasty / Belgian flavor with hoppy finish. If I had not know it ahead of time, I would not have identified it as a saison. Itís lacking the funky, barnyard aspects.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Farmhouse aroma (if there is such a thing), sweat and yeasty. Tones of pine and flowers. Pours hazy golden with a fine, frothy head. Quite complex in taste, sweat then bitter. Feels quite lively, not particularly long. Good beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Biervana. A saison imitating to be Belgian, as promised: Sweet, some farmhouse, crisp but fine carbonation making it not quite as heavy as it might be, a bit oily. Quite bitter. Nice, but not terribly exciting by taste.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Heavy grain and straw for the malt, moderate pine, grass and herbs for the hops, moderate barnyard and musty for the yeast, with notes of proseco, green apple and wood in the background. Head is huge, fizzy/frothy, white with a tan swirl at the end of the pour, which is crusty but doesnít stick to the glass, and is mostly lasting. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts moderately acidic and faintly sweet, and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a fizzy carbonation and finishes lightly alcoholic and dry. The hop profile and the yeast component make a great mix of flavors and aromas in this superb Saison.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the 25 fl. oz. bottle. It is stamped but I canít figure out the date it was bottled. Cloudy amber-orange color with a tremendous white foamy head. The aroma has some standard Belgian toasted malt and yeasty characters. But the yeast is a wild yeasty character like one would expect from a Saison. The fruit characters are not as prominent as the tasting notes imply. The body is light to medium. The taste has a little light fruit that feels overripe. The finish is mildly bitter.
