COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

3fourths (7879) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 7, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2013 750ml bottle. cloudy semi-dark wheat colored body with a billowy and sitcky white head. strongly floral nose with a lot of potpourri, dish soap, wax, mango and peach notes; very yeast-heavy. the vanilla candle wax and tropical fruit esters begin to grow as it breathes, and though my first impression (cold from the bottle) was nice, as it arrives around 55 F there is an ester amplification. I have to say itís more a design problem than execution. medium to medium-full body; medium aicd; strongly tart; yeast and chalk texture with a lot of gummi malt sugars. an abundance of tropical / fruity American hops appears through the ester cloud, but the core is bitter pine sap. even with a careful pour itís all in suspension. perhaps you have to sit these bottles upright for a week to settle them out. so here is a beer that I would call more of raw unfiltered wheat IPA (wheat or not, the malt and yeast share similarities with Hefeweizen, flavor-wise) than anything I would call Saison. I like the effort, it has the fundamentals right to land somewhere in the area of XX Bitter (mostly pale malt, strong hop expression, Belgian yeast); but the use of American hops and doughy yeast turns it into a very bitter ester-bomb. the malt texture seems smooth by comparison to all of this, so itís one of the things I like most about this beer.

Difficult to rate, lots of sweet fruit and spice and still acidic. Golden coloured and hazy, unclear. Has a white head. Aroma of vanilla, sweet fruits and acid. Flavor too.

Pours a hazy gold with a bubbly white head. Huge aroma of tropical fruits, yeast and piney hops. Easily one of the best aromas Iíve come across. Tangerine, pineapple and mango stand out. Thereís a touch of spice, and the hops give it a decent bitterness. Medium mouth with a carbonated crispness. The other dry-hopped saisons Iíve tried were middling, at best. This one is juicy and flavorful.

Full on opague light orange, very swift;y dissapating foam cap. Peacy, clean and sweet. Creamy and oddly cheesy. Finest, thinnest grainy esters. Gulping foamy carbonation. Not terribly hopped. Finish wholesome and rich, astounding for the ABV but lacking a full on grating Belgian punch.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a tulip and a snifter the day I had it. The appearance was a nice looking hazy orange color with a thin white foamy half fingered head that dissipated within less than a minute in both glasses. The smell had some light notes of peach, mango and tangerine and had some light Belgian spices arrange themselves neatly in and out on over top of the previously mentioned fruits. The taste was a good combination of spicy to sweet. On the palate, this one sat at/about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed pretty good for the Belgian ale style. Overall, though I thought this was a saison at one time in my life, I see that it is not, well, honestly Iím okay with that. Straight up Belgian Pale Ale or Saison, either way this is good to me and worthy of having again.

07.06.2014, 0,75l bottle @ home:
Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh fruity, hops, citrus peel, leafs, lawn, mango, yeast, light malts, hay, grapefruit, hints of passion fruit. Taste is slightly fresh and dry, citrus peel, yeast, leafs, hops, alcohol, citrus, grass, tropical fruits. Longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh boozy mouthfeel. It was actually very nice the first 4-5 sips, and I would probably have rated it at 4,2 based on that. But then a very powerful harsh citrusy vodka-like boozyness started to punch through, which I didnít like at all.
