Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Smell is dark malt and smells aged with some bourbon. Taste is bitter dark chocolate. Like 80 percent cacao. Bitter dry and cacao finish with warmth but no booze and some bourbon flavor. Good stuff. Creamy mouthfeel.

its a good beer, but like Bomb it has a slight bit of astringent, metallic twang to it. still good though.

Wow. Dark, dark brown with great lacing for 11% abv. Sweet malt on the nose, chocolate, vanilla roasted malts. Taste is sweet vanilla, oak, mild chocolate. Fantastic dry finish. Superb stout.

Bottle: Thanks, Jason! Deep brown body, never truly reaching "full black" status with an off-tan foam that settles to a collar within moments. Aroma has some sweet whiskey, chocolate brownie cake, fudge, creamy oats, & some oak-laden tannins in the finish. Lovely aroma from the start; as it warms up, a mild fusel note becomes apparent, but not enough to spoil the show. Big roasted malt flavor up front; nice dark cocoa flavors, like an Intense Dark 86% chocolate bar... Trailing notes of whiskey, oak, vanillin, creamy malts, & integrated tannins lead into a roasty finish with slight hints of coffee, cocoa beans, burnt caramel, & booze. Very nice beer, I think I preferred this to the Vanilla & Pirate Noirs.

Bottle to glass. Near oil black pour with a thin dark khaki head that recedes along the circumference of the glass. Nose is sweet oak, milk chocolate, whisky. Slight booze. insanely smooth mouth feel, sweet milk and dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, and a slightly boozy whisky finish. Nutty coffee finish. Very nice.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, vanilla, caramel, spice, and light bourbon. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights around the edges of the glass. It has a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, molasses, and a touch of caramel. The finish has light-moderate roasted coffee and a touch of whiskey. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel.

Pours a murky black with a good amount of sediment floating around. Some copper hues to this, small tan head, leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is light. Roasted nut, chocolate, coffee and hints of booze. Taste is much lighter than expected...as is the mouthfeel. Medium to low carbonation, but a medium body as well. Kind of off-putting with a beer this big. Wanting more coffee vs. chocolate interplay....both are present, but neither wants to take the driver seat. A slight dark fruit character creeps in towards the back end along with hints of vanilla and whiskey barrel. The barrel character naturally comes out a bit more as the beer warms. A decent balance to this beer for sure, but too subdued in the flavor department. Seems that the beer is either a blend or had a very short life in the barrel.
