Overall a solid beer. Roasty, chocolaty, stout. Light vanilla and espresso notes. Very little barrel. More of a imperial stout than a ba stout. 85/100

In my opinion Prairie is the most overated beer in history. Their Bomb is less than that. However, their Noir is making me reconsider this notion. Cofffee hue. Espresso aroma. Lacy head. Vanilla bits and a lingering taste of nutmeg. Definitely feels like a seasonal, meant for Winter. Sweet wash down, There is booze but the balance between sweet and bitter is perfect. Try. Drink. Repeat.

Jack is back tasting at Bruce’s. Jack is back and brought this with him. Thanks Jack. Opaque dark brown beer, decent tan head. Palate is softish and airy, slightly dry with fine carbonation. Smooth airy dark malt. Brett and dark fruits. Little malt roast in the finish. Not bad.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared in London - thanks, Jack. Pours clearish brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma has some tangy dark berries, a bit of cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with chalky cocoa, earthy bitterness, some tobacco, faint tangy dark fruits, slight basement. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, more dry cocoa, burnt earth bitterness. Eh. So so.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks Jack. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose is earthy, manure, funky, cocoa, rocky road, light vanilla, marshmallow and toast. The taste is roasty, toasty, earth, treacle, tang, oak, burnt notes, plastic, light spice, some acidity and light alcohol with a dry finish. Full ism body and fine carbonation. A bit acidic, ashy and rough. OK at best.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sour(?) slightly sweet candyish aroma. Black with a thick foamy dark tan head which fades very slowly coating the sides of the glass. Coffee, toffee, bitter, roasty with a glassy smooth finish. A little warming in the throat at the end.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the recent super bowl squares huge thanks for sending this my way! Pour has a very dark brown bordering on black with a cap of dark tan head that slowly fell off. Aroma has dark malt, chocolate, bourbon barrels, some roast, and faint oats. Mouth feel is medium full with good carbonation for a barrel aged Impy. Flavor has roasted malts, bourbon barrels, coffee bitterness, chocolate, and a bit more oats once it warmed up fully.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma of chocolate, malt, and hints of coffee. Pours a blackish-brown with short lived espresso head and smathering of lacing. The taste has a burnt quality - chocolate, brunt malt, whiskey, and oak. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, it looses its edge as it warms and becomes a very smooth enjoyable beer.
