Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts, roast and chocolate, light oak, light coffee, a little dough, and some sweetness. Flavor the same. Smooth texture. A decent imperial stout, but a little too sweet and too light on the roast and bourbon.

This is not overly complex so I understand where some of three negativity comes from. Also, the bourbon is understated. Last time I checked, this is ratebeer, not ratebourbon. Good looking beer. Some bourbon in the nose and some cinnamon or something else a little sweet. The beer is smooth with a lively carb. Some citrus in the aftertaste, but it does not linger. Lightly bitter and very dry for an impy stout. As it warms, there is some astringency, but finishes well.

Pretty average barrel aged imperial stout. Lightly ashy roasty with a nice body but the depth of flavor falls short. Malts are very one dimensional and the beer is not very interesting. Barrel character is very minimal as well.

750 ml bottle shared, its ok, just thick and ashy with some of the vanilla from the barrels. Prairie sucks at stouts and I dont know why they have such a following, below average.

Petrol Station, Houston tap: Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma is light whiskey barrel and oak coupled with chocolate and coffee, roasted malts and sugar. Taste is at first more whiskey, but as you keep drinking the sweet chocolate flavors start to come out in fuller force. Well-balanced and easy drinking. Tasty.

Black pour. aroma of crayons and licorice. Taste is smoke, burnt cardboard, scotch. Not much booze. Nice carbonation but a bit thin. Not impressed

12 iz bottle poured thick molasses black. Little carbonation and tan head with minimal lacing. Nose is bourbon and coffee with tastes that are similar with elements of dark chocolate. The boozy whisky bite hits late in the drink. Very drinkable barrel aged brew.

Bottle thanks to Bob. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is roast, marshmellow and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with strong roast and light oak and nuttiness. Really enjoyed this one!

Pours black, finger tan head. Smell is peaty, more whisky than bourbon, red fruit and really light roast Taste is big peaty oak and whisky, very one dimensional Medium body I didn’t really enjoy drinking this, sort of a let down since Bomb is so good

Black pour with a tan head. The aroma has a ton of chocolate as well as a bit of wood and whiskey. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of chocolate and roasted malt as well as a bit of charred malt. There is a bit of oak and some nice whiskey character. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice beer.
