Cork and caged bottle thanks to a trade with abslyde! Pours a thick black with bubbly carbonation that leaves ring of brown head and little lace. Aroma is boozy chocolate and roasted malts. Taste fooled with an astringent middle and slightly spicy back end. Astringency goes away and chocolate opens as it warms. Not bad, but nothing mind blowing.

Bottle with my Faj. Pour is deep black with a frothy brown head and great lacing. Big dark chocolate, oaky, bourbon, espresso, light caramel, raisin, plums, leathery, and lircorise in the aroma. Taste is big dark chocolate, dark fruits, leather, light tar, espresso, red grapes, whiskey, wood, and raisins with a hint of alcohol on the backend. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Damn decent stout.

Sampled at THE FESTIVAL 2013 in Maine with Andrew, Jay and Kramer. Pours a deep blackish brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is perfectly balanced between sweet chocolate, bourbon barrels and a nice smoky roast character. Mouthfeel is rich and silky with notes of barrel, chocolate, char, peat, soft cocoa and vanilla.

Corked bottle sent to me by Hopscotch since it seems this one as not made it to Chicago or I just missed it. THX Eric!

The beer pours a near opaque with a initial nice creamy tan head that does fade leaving spotty lace but some oily tears. The aroma is classic BA Imperial which bourbon notes of vanilla, whiskey, oak and char along with the roast, chocolate, light espresso and herbal hops esters. The taste is lush sweet chocolate and vanilla balanced by brash bourbon and bitter coffee and hop character. Roasty and ashy with a slight coffeeish finish. The mouth feel is only moderate in body for the genre but that works with this flavor profile, still a tad hot and boozy along with some metallic notes.

This beer actually exceeded my expectations for I feared it would be some bastardized "belgianized" sour’d stout. Lucky for me it is not that but a well crafted BA Impy that should take to years of artful cellaring. Nom Nom

750 ml bottle sampled at the Side Project release bottle share. Pours a deep brown with some larger tan bubbles for the head. Notes of whiskey, coconut, oak, caramel, marshmallow, cocoa, and a bit of mellow coffee. Medium-bodied, with a warm, malty, boozy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice barrel aged stout.

Bottle thanks to Bob! Pours opaque black with a small creamy brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is roast, cocoa, figs, cinnamon, whiskey, raisins. Flavor is the same, whiskey is prominent, light sweet and medium bitter. Medium plus body, a bit hot and some astringence from time in barrel.
