COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Bottle. Pours dark black with a firm tan head. Nose is chocolate but not much barrel-maybe itís a bit too chilled. Taste is chocolate, oatmeal but very light on the barrel aging. Just enough not too overpower the beer-itís a beer with some barrel flavoring as opposed to many barrel aged beers that are more barrel than beer. Smooth luscious body. Nice.

Pours dark with thick off white head. Somewhat dry with subtle whiskey flavor. Tootsie roll and cocoa flavors and pronounced earthiness. Finishes with bright berrylike notes.

Black pour with plenty of tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, coffee, cocoa. Flavor is more of the same with prominent bitter chocolate, chili, and some vanilla.

12oz bottle pours dark rich oily brown with a thin head. Nose is subtle fruity bourbon, spice, roast coffee and cocoa. Taste is creamy milk chocolate, dusty cocoa, coffee, bourbon is in the background and is not overpowering, nice subtle dark fruit, faint spicey whiskey, some vanilla oakiness. Overall pretty solid and easy drinking.

The bottle pours thick and viscous, looks like motor oil with about an inch of lush, slightly orange tinted tan foam, settling gradually with no real lace. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, mocha, leather, tobacco. Flavors of dark chocolate, espresso, bourbon, caramel, vanilla; the sweetness and bitterness have mellowed (I presume) since Iíve been sitting on this for some months. The carbonation carries well without being aggressive. If impy stouts are your thing then, holy smokes this is a brew for you! Soooo good.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2014 12 oz bottle. The beer pours to deep black color with a medium tan head. The aroma has strong coffee & chocolate notes with some roasted scents. The taste is smooth with a espresso chocolate taste upfront followed by a well balanced finish. The taste overall is is not overpowering but has great flavor. Overall a very good Imperial Stout.

Bottle thanks to soonerchamps. Pours black with a small creamy head that lingers nicely. Aroma is rich and creamy. Fudge, lactose, oats, vanilla, light whiskey and a hint of mint. Taste is roasty and creamy with a very light sweetness. Bitter coffee, mint, and whiskey in the finish. Thick body, creamy and chewy mouthfeel. Solid imperial stout but the taste wasnít as rich as the aroma made it seem. I can see why some would love this though.

Man this was great. Nice roasted malt and bourbon aromas. Pitch black color with a fine tan head. Great palate with weight but not too heavy. Smooth. Fantastic blending of the outmeal roasted flavors with coffee and chocolate and charred wood. Just enough hops to pull it out of malt overload. The bourbon enhanced the flavors, not overpowered them. A great compliment. If you find it, grab it.

Served alongside the Vanilla Noir. Deep black with an oily beige head. Lovely aroma with all the usual suspects. Oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. Fabulous flavor and wonderfully smooth. Rich flavor with ample dark chocolates. Mild alcohol presence. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Complex and well balanced. A top notch imperial stout.

12oz bottle into prairie teku. Jet black pour with a good 2 finger mocha head. Aroma of bourbon, char, roasted malt. Taste follows, chocolate, slight coffee, little vanilla... Not overly complex. Super silky mouth feel, easy drinking. Solid.
