COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Black pour with plenty of tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, coffee, cocoa. Flavor is more of the same with prominent bitter chocolate, chili, and some vanilla.

Thanks to joedevivre for the share. Dark brown pour. Chocolate and bourbon dominant nose and taste. Some char and roasted malts in the flavor as well. Excellent balance between barrel, booze, and sweetness. Excellent.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep black chocolate notes with some light bourbon notes is quite interesting. Taste is a mix between some vanilla and bourbon notes mix in with some sweet black chocolate notes. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed stout but I was expecting flavours to shine through even more so.

12oz bottle to snifter. Dark pour. Lovely head. Smooth mouth feel from the oats. Nothing over the top. Subtle barrel. Very smooth and drinkable.

Solid whiskey barrel stout. The base is solid, but seems to have oxidized quite a bit in the span of only half a year. The barrels could be bringing a better contribution in my opinion. But this is certainly not a bad or offensive stout by any means.

Bottle (Red Wax) - It should be said that it took 3 tries to get a noninfected bottle down my gullet. The first two were infected rusted cap drain pours, and the third (this) was light rusted cap with no infection. So. Annoying. Anyway - The pour is murky brown, with a one finger fine bubbled khaki head into this glass - cobweb style lacing presence, with average retention. The nose is heavy barrel presence with light vanilla, marshmallow, feint booze, dark fruits, and caramel. The flavor profile is velvet grain initial, with booze presence and dark fruits, moving to cacao, marshmallow, spicy oak, and mild roast. I am officially a fan of this one

Moelleuse concoction chocolatée avec des tons de toasts brûlés, caramel, coco, vanille et de chaleur d’alcool.

Bottle (red wax) from deyholla – thanks! Very dark brown pour with a smallish brown head. Light lacing. Nose is well balanced in roast, cocoa, bourbon, and charred barrel. Good ratio of sweet to roast, same in the taste. Coffee begins to come through, along with a heavier roast. Barrel notes are less prominent, but in a good way. Finishes with a lingering bittersweet cocoa and light bourbon note. Great texture. I had the Pirate Noir last summer and have been looking forward to try this as original, aka base beer. Very good stuff.

My Bottom Line:
This solid Imperial Stout shares roasted cereal, dark chocolate and delicate fruit flavors licked by alcohol warmth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the darkness.
-Mouthfeel is rich but not too heavy.
-Flavor profile is very tight; you can tell these guys know what they’re doing in the dessert beer category.
-This is very good, just not as compelling as their Bomb! treatments, to me.

Bottle.
