Puncheon is a farmhouse rye ale fermented in large oak barrels with several different wild bacteria strains. Tropical citrus notes and sourness can be detected with hints of oak.

Bottle pours a hazy straw/yellow with a thin white head. Mellow oak and citrus in aroma with some funk. I really like the oak presence in the taste, mild citrus flavors, funk balanced nicely with not so overpowering Belgian yeast. Nice, very refreshing!

Straw colored, small white head. Sweet and citrusy, a bit of funk. Pretty nice beer but not their best.

Terrific bottle art for what that is worth. This one was had next to ’Merica, and I’m slowly delving into this brewery. Appearance wise, a slightly darker, murky golden hue with a very modest white head in this glass. Retention is light with a touch of spotting here - the nose is tropicals, peaches, and grassy hops initial, moving to light spicing and this touch of funk found once again. The flavor profile lacks heft , dominated by the fruity notes present on the nose; fruit forward, both tropicals, pear juice, and peach, while moving to light grass and dust, light mineral, lemon grass, while fading fairly quickly, with perhaps an overly sweet feeling. This brew ultimately falls flat, but has a lot of positive elements going on. It’s definitely worth trying once,at least.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with white head. Aroma is saison spices and is fairly strong. Lots of wheat, some tartness and fruity. Not a lot of woody flavor, unfortunately.

Thanks to someone for sharing this during the bottle share before the Jester King Funk and Sour Fest. Yellow pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor have a lot of biscuit malt notes as well as some Belgian yeast, light wood and light funk. There is also some light peach and orange notes as well as some grass. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

The beer is very hazy and straw white with a thin white. The aroma brings funk, yeast, citrus, wheat, grass. Smells quite nice. Lots of citrus flavor. Medium bodied with moderately low carbonation. A touch of grass with mild hop flavor. Really nice. Easy going. Good stuff.

Bottle from drfabulous. A murky golden color is topped with a thin, loose white head that leaves some minimal spotty lacing. The aroma is fairly funky, with yeast, oak and grapes coming in strong and backed up with pear and straw notes for depth. Tart in the mouth with a noticeable funky Brett influence but nothing over-the-top. The flavors consist of funky yeast, citrus, an interesting leather character, light floral notes, and a woody-barrel presence. A soured Farmhouse Ale for sure. It’s not the best Prairie beer I’ve had but it’s still pretty tasty.

Bitter säuerlicher, leicht brotiger Antrunk. Rund, wenig alkoholisch, zum Ende dunkler, etwas säuerlicher, vollmundig. Sehr gut. 9/11/10/10/12/10
