3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Oak-aged ’farmhouse ale’ from Oklahoma with a yellowish white, regular, initially medium thick head which quite rapidly opens and eventually all but disappears; colour hazy yellow straw blonde with initially quite vivid sparkling (big bubbles) which slowly decrease in numbers; milky with deposit. Quite strong and very estery aroma of starfruit, dry sherry, lemon peel, sour cream, vanilla-like tannins, passion fruit, wet hay, dry white wine, horseblanket, earthy and dusty yeast, red apple, gooseberry, banana, sweat; there is a clear lambic-like quality to it. Same in the mouth: very estery, exotic and complex fruitiness and tartness, a bit sharpish but refreshingly so, unripe green plums, red berries, lime juice, smooth and light mouthfeel especially in view of its considerable ABV, some underlying malt sweetness and spicy yeasty touches, dry sourish effect lasts till deep into the finish, which otherwise reveals a citrussy hop bitter (though more subtle than I am used to from American craft beers), woody tannins and a gentle yet subtle alcohol warming, noticeable but far from disturbing and actually very well camouflaged for this strong a beer. Lovely sourish ale, complex and thirst-quenching; if I had tasted this blind, I would never have guessed it contains 8,5% alcohol by volume. Very Belgian as well (which I assume was the intention): estery, fruity, yeasty, sourish; strongly reminds me of the most tart and ’artisanal’ of Belgian strong saisons (Dupont’s Bon Voeux, for example), and even bears some similarities with ’Flemish sour’ and even lambic. Interesting.

Pour hazy yellow, with a small fluffy white head.
Aroma has plenty of citrus, lime, pepper, wooden chips, slight brett, barrel, banana.
The taste is very well balanced - sweet at first, slight acidity, a slightly bitter,, Well done...
Average bodied, with a pretty darn fizzy carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a light straw gold with a small white head and some lacing. It has a nice aroma of funk, light malt, and some tropical fruit. The flavor is light funk up front with a mild fruit backbone and sour finish.

Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Pours golden with a thin white head. leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. nice funk with some oak on the nose. I get some funk on the tongue with just a hint of the barrel aging. finishes clean. It’s solid but I’ve certainly had better saisons.

Grapefruity and refreshing. I'm new to this style. Thoroughly enjoyed with chicken nuggets and my 2 yr old (just the nuggets for him) as a warm up to monday night football.

Nose of grapefruit, zest and pulp, dry. Glowing pastel golden color, cloudy, lacy. Lots of sweetness left in the flavor, more than expected. Lemon, grapefruit, yogurt, vanilla, a bit of leather. Moderately tart, woody. Mellow and silky body. Easy drinking and enjoyable.

500 ml bottle from De Hopduvel. Pours a glowing gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is really fruity and perfumy, tons of fruity bretty notes, lots of oak as well, vanilla, litchi, passion fruit, white wine undertones, light husky grain. Taste is grainy, mild bretty notes, a bit heavy fruity alcohol flavor that brings down the drinakbility, fairly complex, lots of tropical fruit, lemon zest, something is a bit harsh though, like a tough oaky tannin or husky grain flavors. Palate is a not sweet yet still a bit heavy and you can certainly feel you’re drinking 8,5% abv beer. Med carbonation, full body, semi-sweet. Pretty good drank,

Serving: Bottle. Hazy light gold pour. Plentiful white head. Brett, light oak, dusty yeast in the nose. Very light and effervescent on the tongue. Not a whole lot of flavor in this one. Lemon pith, club soda, dusty, dry brett notes. Long, bitter finish. Very surprised at the ABV. Drinks much lighter.
