Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Viktoriagade. Pours murky yellow with a small, staying, creamy, white head. Aroma has sweet malts, funk, green apple, light white pepper. Medium carbonation, lovely dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of fresh cut lemon, citrus, oranges, almost puckering. Mild doughy malts to balance. Mild white pepper dryness. If only I could drink this forever!

Pours a very murky straw color with a small head that is gone in a hurry.

The nose reveals a sharp hit of white pepper upfront. Deeper inhalations will yield lemon, lambic type funk, Belgian style yeast, bleu cheese, armpits. The unwashed masses. Hippies.

Taste is very in the style of love buzz, but this one is funkier and more sour. That’s not to say that this is bracingly sour, it uses the sour very subtly, but you still feel it. Wheaty with a dry, lip smacking finish.

Another amazing beer from this emerging brewery. These guys are going to dominate.

Pour is a nice hazy golden amber with a small white head. Aroma has some orange zest to it mixed with the sour. Taste is nice and sour with hints of lemon zest and orange peel. Leaves a little tart after taste.

On tap at Churchkey. Wow, really impressive. Guava and pineapple along with faint hay and funk. Slight bitterness and acidity. Tropical to the extreme.

The nose on this beer is brett and sourness. Flavors of lime and cuties with everything that comes from brett. Good carbonation and a solid beer.

Bottle from soonerchamps. This pours a golden/orange color with a thin lasting white head on top. It smells of straw, barnyard funk, and grass, with lemon peel, white grapes, and dusty notes finishing off a wonderful scent. The flavors are tart but not super sour; plenty funky and citrusy, with straw notes, wheat, and some herbal undertones. This is a really good sour saison and a great representation of what, I think, a sour farmhouse ale should taste like. There’s a lot of flavor and funky character throughout, but without sacrificing the delicate, refreshing nature I’ve come to expect from a good saison. Kudos to both the brewers on this fine collaboration!

Location: Half liter bottle from Central Market, 11/6/13

Aroma: The nose is fruity and tart, some lemon and other citric notes, spice, and a little brett
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden color with a fizzy white head that leaves plenty of lace
Flavor: Tastes tart and fruity, there’s a nice funky flavor, spice, and a tiny hint of sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a nice, clean feel, and a dry, spicy, funky finish
Overall Impression: This was another really tasty offering from Prairie (and a collaboration with Saint Somewhere, no less!). Overall, there’s a really nice mix of tart, sour, and funky going on here. I really enjoyed it.

On draft at Sfrangeways. Aroma is Brett, clean, blood orange. Taste is tangy Brett, light citrus, lemon. It’s just a nice clean crooked stave style Bret beer.

750. Cloudy yellow pour with a fine white head that faded fairly quickly. Nose is caramel malt, sour citrus with a hint of barnyard. Flavor is very tart, lemony, underlaid with a biscuity, bready maltiness. Tingly, carbonated mouthfeel. Dry finish. Very enjoyable. A nice collaboration between one of my favorite Florida brewers and a brewery that's relatively new to me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy from my iPad.

750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark gold with a creamy/frothy white head. Aroma is citrus/earthy. Med body or better. Flavor is earthy/bretty in moderate strength with some fairly strong citrus sour. It’s certainly dry. It finishes sour/earthy/bretty/bitter. Excellent ale.
