Prairie Standard is our everyday beer. Its a light, crisp saison with a hoppy finish. This beer is dry hopped 1lb per bbl with Motueka hops. A lovely New Zealand hop with a spicy lime like flavor and aroma.

A 12 fl oz bottle with a Julian bottled on date of 15415, meaning it was bottled on 3rd June 2015. It was poured into a Duvel tulip glass. It poured a clear golden colour with a two finger puffy white head with good retention and decent stringy lacing. Strong aromas of tropical mango, followed by some tangy citrus lemon, fresh orange juice, coriander, honeydew, cantaloupe. Tastes of lemon, lime, orange, light barnyard, white pepper spice and slight grass hop finish. Crisp, medium bodied with mid to high carbonation. Overall there was less barnyard funk than I expected, but the light sourness, crispness and strong fruitiness made it very easy and nice to drink.

Prairie Standard has a medium, off-white head, a cloudy, yellow-gold appearance, with tight bubble streams. The beer becomes sort of white-yellow, once the bottom sediment is swished and poured in. Lacing is fairly substantial. The aroma is on the low-profile side, but the drinker can detect subtle horse blanket, lemon pith, white bread, and coriander. Taste is the same- low profile, but the same elements of the aroma are noticeable. A little white pepper and mild hop aroma show up, too. Mouthfeel is high medium, Prairie Standard finishes on the dry side of the equation. RJT

Bottle from Beer Cartel 080316. This beer is anything but standard. While it looks hazy and murky in the glass the is a golden glowing sunshine colour that impresses. Light flavoured but quite fruity. Nice.

33cl bottle served in a Teku. Pours hazy yellow with a fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy yeast and a fresh hoppiness. Taste is very clean (almost medicinal) and spicy with the hops giving a nice backdrop if not a slightly odd pairing. Overall a very good value summer beer but nothing outstanding.

Hazy, dark yellow in color with a very frothy, eggshell head...it was monstrous. These Prairie beers are an absolute joy to pour...literally fun. Aroma of Belgian yeast, sweet coriander, tart fruits. A slick mouthfeel initially but a dry finish. The taste was great, I thought it would be more complex based on the aroma it carried but great considering the ABV. Bananas, yeast, subdued, notes of barnyard throughout.

Aroma is hoppy, pine, then soap, Belgian yeast, barnyard, light funk. Appearance is pale yellow, white head, lots of bubbles. Taste is a balance of piny hops, slight sour funkiness, barnyard, citrus, strangely a slight berry flavor as well. Mouthfeel is light body, very crisp carbonation, dry, a hoppy bitter aftertaste. Overall, I guess I like saisons now.
