Prairie Standard is our everyday beer. Its a light, crisp saison with a hoppy finish. This beer is dry hopped 1lb per bbl with Motueka hops. A lovely New Zealand hop with a spicy lime like flavor and aroma.

Nice smell, lemony hops and some funky wild yeast odours. The taste is a little disappointing however. Too light and fruity, almost like a lemonade. It’s very tasty, but for such a highly rated saison I would expect greater complexity. A good and very drinkable beer, but not outstanding.

Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate lemon-peel, light citrus, lemon, and a hint of cotton candy. It pours a mostly transparent golden-orange with a touch of haze. It has a large white head that settles to a thick film. There is some sporadic thick webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus with a touch of cotton candy and tropical fruits. The finish has light-moderate lemon peel, florals, and hint of spice. It’s light bodied with moderate-lively carbonation.

Tap. Lightly hazy golden yellow. Some slight citrus, spice, vanilla, hay, and touch of earthy sourness in the aroma. Flavor is a touch tangy citrus at first, very light dough and hay, and dry earthy finish. Lighter still body.

Now...this, this is what I’m talking about. Bright funk in nose and body solidly supported and slightly outdone by the funky citric hop. Oh yeah! I could easily drink this all day long. Now how to do that without having to re-mortgage the house......

Nice nose farmhouse nose with lime. Taste is pretty straightforward to style. Dry hopping privided a nice bright character to the beer. Preferred to keep the yeast out as it muddied up the whole dry hop thing.

12 oz. bottle from Tasty Beverage Co., Raleigh. Golden yellow pour with a frothy off-white head. Clean aroma of soap, light citrus peel, and straw. Taste features orange zest, lemon, and mild spicy hops. Unmistakably a saison but the hops mask the bitterness I sometimes associate with the style. A nicely done and very approachable beer.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out farmhouse notes, citrus hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with citrus hops and weird farmhouse yeast. Surprisingly unsophisticated for a Prairie beer. Not very convincing - it’s okay.
