3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Beachwood long beach thanks to ChinoSkillzian! Clear deep ruby pour with bubbles, no head formation. Nose is pretty rich caramel, toffee, dark cherry, sweet cherry juice box, vanilla bourbon barrel. Taste is very thin though with lemon juice and near stomach acid harshness. Tannic, long woody finish. Over oaked and over attenuated.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A smaller tulip at Cugino’s. This beer arrived deep dark brown. No head. Complex fruit in the aroma. Complex as in all over the place. Raisins, cherry, etc. The flavor had fruit that was just as complex. Wood flavors but not vanilla. Chocolate. This was, at times, like drinking a fruit cake. Quite flavorful but it also managed to be subtle.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nutty brown out of the bottle, with about an inch of creamy tan head. Aromas of booze, resin, plum, cherry, brown sugar... The taste is lightly tart, cherries, toffee, toasty breadcrust... a touch of boozy numbing warmth. I think the carbonation is bright, not harsh, medium/ bold body. The finish fruity and toasty, lingering just a bit. The booze is well hidden and the flavors are very balanced. I can easily imagine this brew saving my Christmas, at least as far as the get-togethers.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a khaki head. The aroma is lightly tart plum, dark fruit and spices. The flavor is Belgian, toasty and spicy with dark fruit, raisins, plum and spicy yeast. Lightly acidic and roasted in the finish. I didn’t get much wood.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep rusty umber color with two fingers of thick khaki foam that laces nicely. The nose is rustic old oak, vanilla, burnt sugar and traces of vinous fruit and a touch of cardboard. The palate follows with a complex array of flavors that all fall in place nicely. Hints of plum, burnt sugar, pine needles, nougat, coffee, orange peel, sour cherry... damn this thing is packed with intricate flavors that are like a massively complex oxidized old ale ! Digging It.
