Shared this bottle with the family on Christmas. Spice.. Spice.. Spice. I’m not sure what all is in traditional Christmas spice, But about half a bottle in, that’s all I could taste.. And it kept stacking.

Tap. Poured a dark hazy brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet malt and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a soft complex beer.

Small bottle shared with a friend, thanks Jason! Malty, Belgian aroma with caramel, fruity esters, earthy hops, oak, toffee and light spices. Similar flavor, rich and robust with thick body and a smooth, creamy feel.

On tap at Bangers & Lace. Pours dark opaque. Flavor is very spicy. Medium bodied and no harsh coffee or toffee notes. Very pleasant flavor for a beer of this type. Not overwhelmingly minty but definitely there. Oak flavor is not overwhelming and almost not detectable. Good beer.

On tap, poured a murky brown hue w/ small head diminishing to a thin cap. Medium fruity aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light sour finish. Tastes are prune, red wine, oak, tart cherry, mulling spice and lemon. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and creamy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a murky brown with a small off white head that retains fairly well and has good lacing. Aroma is nutty with chocolate, dark fruit, caramel and a little whiskey. Taste is both sweet and slightly tart with dark fruits, chocolate, caramel and some oak flavor. A bit of whiskey but not a big booziness. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Finishes semi dry. Wonderful aroma and nice big comforting flavors. Really good.

2013 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a muddy brown with a good sized off-white head (surprising for the abv). Oily lacing that leaves a yellow, clingy residue. Aroma is sweet, tart, dark fruits, (mostly cherry), chocolate, caramel, with the touch of whiskey booziness. Taste is all the above with some nuttiness and smokiness on the end. Only a slight hint of the alcohol. Full, oily mouthfeel. Balanced, complex and delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle from The Party Source. Pours a hazy brownish amber with a small beige head. The initial aroma strongly shows the oak barrel, but that note actually seems to fade over time. Maybe because the others emerge more. Some winter spices blend with caramel and chocolate malts, cookies, and sweet boozy bread. The flavor is the same way. Dark fruits, such as dates and figs, are also present. Medium-bodied, with a chewy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Pretty good but not a standout.

Bottle from West Lakeview Liquors. Aroma of dark fruit and bourbon. Taste is surprisingly tart/sour. I’m not seeing anyone else mention this in their ratings, so I wonder if mine has "gone off". But make not mistake, that did not make it bad. The tartness goes well with the cherry and dark fruit notes, and made this an enjoyable, albeit unexpected, beer.
