From bottle at The Trappist. Pours dark brown with a decent tan head and a strong treacle aroma. There is a slightly sweet dark malt flavor with a sour oak finish. Complex and tasty.

Smells of raisins and figs. Thick deep dark brown color. Thick maltyness with a wine like streak that peaks out and then fades back in to the malty sweetness. Thick leaves a slight sour behind imbedded in a malty coating. Great winter warmer for the season.

From bottle. Christmas in a bottle. Unfortunately, I don’t like Christmas. This beer, while interesting, is a compelling metaphor for Christmas--too much going on and not enough to enjoy.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Supermarket Fort Collins. Pours a bit murky brown appearance with a thin head. For some strange reason, the wax has a rank, non-neutral aroma. Smelling the beer from the bottle is not pleasant. Smelling the beer from a glass is much better: lot of candy sugar, light brett, plum, fig, and dark fruits. Fairly woody/oaky, vanilla, tart/bretty, slight pineapple/orange fruity, slightly goopy caramel, a bit boozy flavor. Pretty enjoyable but possibly my least favorite from these guys thus far.

Pour out of 500 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cherry, dark fruit, hints of raisin, plum, nice roast, dark cocoa powder, slight earthy notes. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, hints of cherry, hints of earth, nice dark cocoa powder, slight brett in there. Tasty.

500mL bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with a thin off white head. Toffee, vanilla, grapes, oak, tobacco. Good amount of sourness. It was ok but probably not something I'd try again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

murky brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is oak forward, toffee, booze, a bit of hazelnut. Big beer. Not overly sweet, a touch of sourness really brings this one together. Boozy finish but not overly so. Slightly over carbed for my tastes.

500 ml bottle from The Beer Trappe. White wax. Dark pour. Creamy. Vanilla and oak. Slight sour bite to the malt. Bourbon shines in the end taste.

Dark/hazy brown with small tan head. Aroma is bourbon, malts, maybe some fruits and vanilla. Is a decent Christmas beer; possibly one I’ll buy again to age.

A great Christmas Ale; a very pleasing nose with hints if spice and vanilla. It pours dark with a nice creamy head. The taste is a bit unique with almost a sour start leading to a full mouth experience. This is not a beer for the new craft beer virgin, but it is a beer they will grow to love.
