500ml bottle, wax-capped but still fairly easy to open. Nose of richly sweet, dark malts, prominent oak, dried fruits, brown sugar, jam and a tart, cherryish fruitiness in the background. Deep, dark brown in color, nearly black, with a trace of sediment left behind in the bottle and a fading, light tan head. Flavor profile is mildly tart, oaky, sweet and fruity, lightly tannic and winey with suggestions of carob, raisin, dark bread and red grape, and finishing with a drying, warming sensation. Full and lightly acidic on the palate with a moderate degree of effervescence and a large body. Very nicely rendered Old Ale.

500ml bottle pours murky brown red with small head. Nose is dried dark fruits, root beer, leather, berry, dusty cocoa, some light booze spice and subtle woody notes. Taste is nice with all the aspects of the nose and a harmonius fruity light tartness, some tootsie roll, bitter cocoa dust, caramel, leather. Finish is light tartness with rounded light boozy dark fruit, spice, caramel, faint bourbon. Fun and tasty bottle!

16.9 oz. bottle from Wilburís Appearance: finger of tan head, dark brown color, opaque. Aroma: libht boooze, fruit, earthy, light funkiness, oak. Palate: medium body, thin texture, light alcoholic warming and texture, average to lively carbonation. Taste: sweet fruit into awesome oakiness that balances out the fruitiness and keeps it from going into tartness. Overall, amazing balance, very unique balance, very interesting beer. Paired well with a top sirloin dinner. Very good.

Bottle. Thanks to mike12da. Rich chocolate nose, with some dark fruit. Dark translucent brown color. Sourish initial, raisins and light berries, sugary in mid palate, gentle pruney finish. Medium body. Slgitly tart. Pleasant but a bit weak overall. Some mix of good flavors that donít quite come together.

This is from last years batch. It is better than last year and I bet it would still age well. Dark brown beer with a foamy tan head. Big sweet dried fruit and rich oak aromas. Lots of raisin, fig and dried fruit sweetness with warming bourbon, vanilla, oak and a pretty strong acidity. The ABV compliments the flavors well. Iím only sorry this is my last bottle. I bet it will be better next year.

Bottle: Per recommendations from the peanut gallery I have let this age since last year and figured tonight would be a good night to finally open one. Nice smooth malty notes without being sweet thanks to the tannic addition of the oak barrel. A bit of whisky but hardly a booze bomb but a worthy compliment to the complexities. Slight fig and plum fruitiness along with a dollop of acidity. I would say that this is still in need of maturity and further depth that is common with the best of the olde ale genre but I can see this achieving that level in 3-5 years. The other bottle is now at rest for many many moons.
