500 ml waxed and capped bottle received from my in-laws as a Christmas gift. The pour is a hazed brown, opaque with a small town head. The aroma is cocoa powder sweet along with roast and a soft hint of soy. A bit of the oak wood comes out as the beer warms. The taste is sharp almost acidic bitter roastiness up front, followed by a fruit prune element and then moving towards the cocoa flavors of the nose The beer finishes with warming alcohol. Nicely integrated flavors. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with active carbonation and a bit of an oily slick mouth feel. The alcohol warms, but doesnít distract. Solid.

Fruitcake in a glass. Glad to taste. Too bad there might be a problem with infection. Smells great. Tastes great. Hope they do this again!

Pours a three-finger cream/beige head that fades slowly to a ring leaving some lace. Deep opaque brown color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Dark fruit and oak nose. Flavor is dark fruit, oak, vinous grapes; high ABV is mostly hidden. Decent old ale. Pricey at $13.50 for a 500ml bottle from a Tullyís Beer & Wine Wells, ME. And first bottle from Oklahoma after 3400 bottles.

Beautiful pour, tons of head and sticky lace. Smells sweet, bready, and syrupy; underlying taste is sweet but there's spikes of sour everywhere. No idea what it wants to be; not good.

ok, wow- this doesnít feel like a Prairie beer at all! .. pours a deep chestnut .. light head, medium lacing .. . lots of spice and a sharp tartness .. just a mess and not at all what was expected. a very very rare miss from the kreb nation .. . .
I know more about those two losers from the Sonic commercials than I know about my own father.

Bottle... Poured dark brownish with red highlights and a nice forming light, tan head. Nice cherry and acidic lactic notes with mocha coffee and cocoa. Hints of oak and burnt grains with ash and mild oxidation. Dark fruits dominated this one with a nice warming alcohol note.

Iíd been told by people I trust that this was a good beer Iíd like. Iím gonna have to disagree with them. It pours dark reddish brown with a beige head. The aroma has wood, toffee caramel toast and alcohol (wonít be the last time this word is in the review). It has a medium / full body thatís quite thick and sticky with a low amount of carbonation. The flavor start with big woodiness, syrupy sweetness, caramel, raisins, heavy alcohol, apple tartness and pepper. The finish has more apple and raisin as well as a water aspect to the taste and an onslaught of alcohol booziness. Apparently there are a lot of people that like this, so I guess to many this is a good beer, but this was certainly down the lines of what I like.

Bottle. Pours cola color with a thin off white head. Aroma is mostly oak with lots of fruity sweetness, maybe raspberry and cherry. Taste follows suit and adds some deep port, vanilla and spice notes. Chocolate notes on the finish. Oily palate with a surprising amount of carbonation. Slightly buttery. This is really tasty and warning.

Bottle, acquired in trade(s) -- thanks, J and M! Pours deep and dark with ample creamy white head, loads of nice lacing. Aroma is full of apples and booze. Cherries as well, and some vanilla, but everything is just soaked in booze. Like a boozy fig/cherry/apple fruitcake or something. This aroma is actually a bit off-putting. Taste: Booze-soaked fruits. Astringent. In the words of my wife: "Itís tangy. Yuck. Do I have to drink this?" No, honey, Iíll provide you something else, but Iím going down with this ship. Palate: full body, slick and oily texture. As the beer goes on (and on and on ... wow, thereís still half a bottle left? This is a chore ...) and Iíve acclimated a bit itís more tolerable, but still ... wow, do not like this. If nothing else, though, this beer really, really, REALLY makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have the Fremont BBomb out here.
