On tap @ Taps Petaluma. Nice brown pour with a light haze and a tall khaki head. Lots of wood, toast, toffee, and nuts on the nose. Light sourness, some chocolate, red wine, and lots of dark fruits. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla, too. Crazy. Flavor is kind of all over the place as well. Nice malty sweetness but also that slight tartness. Quite vinous with a big red wine character. Sweet toffee, brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruit. Notes of chocolate, plenty of drying oak, and some toasted nuts. Pretty enjoyable, but certainly not my favorite Prairie beer.

Bottle. Pours hazy deep chestnut ruby, quite beautiful. Medium tan creamy head, nice lacing. Aroma is spicy, cinnamon, orange zest, molasses, toffee, allspice. Flavor is medium sweet, light zesty bitter, dark sugars and fruits taking a backseat to the spices. Some light woody tannins and vanilla notes as well. Light astringency, perhaps a bit tart on the finish. Gets more spicy and less balanced as it breathes and warms.

500ml bottle, head fizzle quickly. Smells of alcohol and oak and funk and dark chocolate. Taste is very rustic and oaky with a tart funk, almost like tasting leather, and a sweetness reminiscent of burnt caramel ever so slightly. Very interesting beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle. Smells extremely weird with oaky hints. Bitter to taste.

Wax topped bottle in trade, with thanks to soonerchamps. Poured a murky brown with a small beige head. Initial aroma of yeasty bread with some molasses, then lots of wood and booze. Flavor of tart dark fruit, a bit of sour. Oak very present, slight boozy finish. As it warmed up, it evolved to a buttery finish. I wonder if time would help this, it tasted a bit green to me. Odd little brew.

Bottle thanks to Bob! Pours a cloudy brown with a small beige head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is raisin and nuts. Light fruit caramel but a bit off in the finish.

A very muddy brown color little head. Smells of alcohol strongly, along with a musty chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter. Taste is slightly smoky roasted with some good chocolate flavors that reminds me of a tootsie roll. Dry, slight bitter at the beginning. Some tastes of rye as well. Overall pretty interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap in Tulsa, light body, nice subtle tartness, but mostly sweet. Subtle roast flavor, bit of grape mid taste, chocolate in the finish.

Waxed bomber thanks to soonerchamps. Pours dark reddish brown with a medium sized foamy head that fades slowly and lingers nicely. Aroma is very Belgian-y which was unexpected. Big fruity esters like a Belgian strong with spices, oak, and light caramel. Taste is sour dark fruit, slightly tart, lots of oak, some spices. A little boozy in the finish. It’s not bad but it’s just not very good either. Like a boring Belgian Christmas beer.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Very last bit from the keg, lucky me. Totally hazy brown color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Some loose dots of lace. A nice-looking old ale. Bigger body. Full, kind of chewy texture. Smooth, lighter carbonation, lightly slick texture. Taste is a little old - lightly tart, a lot of tannins. Light sweet. Not so sour as to ruin the beer, but the tartness is a little odd, seems out of place. Caramel malt, light butterscotch, light spice, a bit of toastiness, some light butteriness. Flaws are noticeable, but I think overall taste and flavor is not horrible, and texture is pretty nice.
