Tulsa Rugby Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed with Summit and Chinook hops. It’s a medium-bodied ale with notes of biscuit that nicely compliment the piney resin notes the hops add.

Bottle shared by Phil. Thanks! Orange pour with a white head. Nice fruity hop aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, and passion fruit. A bit of lemon zest, apricot, and bread. The flavor is surprisingly muted and muddled, particularly compared to the aroma. Bitter hops, some grapefruit and pineapple, lemon peel, and grass. Subtle tropical notes.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex resin hop aroma. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Solid brew.

355mL thanks to deyholla! Clearer dark orange pour with medium creamy foam. Great lacing. Nose is gamey melon, soap, hints of metal. Taste is dry, soapy, drained, grassy, lemongrass bitters. Mild butterscotch body. A bit disappointing. Similar strange hop character as the Prairie Standard.

12 fl oz bottle. From a trade with deyholla. Cheers!
Cloudy deep golden colour with a small white head. Mild sweet aroma with some cookie, fruit and malty notes. The flavour is much drier. Strong hoppy bitterness and some malty sweetness. There’s something in the hop profile that I’m not huge fan of. But certainly drinkable and even enjoyable APA.

12oz bottle, from Dutch’s. Pleasant citrus, piney, herbal hop up front. Milder biscuity malt. Mostly hazy darker golden, slight orange color. Thin off-white head, good retention. Leaves good ridge of lace. Bit of mustiness to the flavor. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Dry finish. Bit of yeastiness to this, kind of toasty. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. A decent pale ale. Definitely different than your typical modern American pale. Seems to have a bit of English influence to me, particularly with the yeast. Sort of a musty, malty finish (but not in a sweet way -- a papery, toasty, dry way). Hint of vegetable somewhere? Decent balance, but I wanted to like this more than I did. I think this would gain a lot if paired with some food.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2015 Bottle. Lightly hazed effervescent amber with a lasting white head. Hoppy and yeasty aroma impression is cobwebs, herbs, sea salt, peppercorns, lemon / lime, rotting tropical fruit / bacteria. Quiet malt is caramel and toasted grain and stale crackers. Medium-light bodied, acidic and lightly sweet, effervescent and frothy in the mouth turning dry, bitter, pasty / silty in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orangish peach with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a good amount of bitter resin pine with a good amount of mustiness and some underlying earthy grains. Flavor has a combination of grapefruit and onion upfront with a resinous finish that is backed by musty grains.

12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a hazy golden amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor has mild plus sweetness, crackery, biscuity malts, some yeast, apples, some resiny notes, some vegetal character, dry, mild bitterness, lighter pale, this is not one of my favorites from these guys.
