Pours a deep rich sliky black color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose has a complex array of barrel notes vanilla, toasted marshmallow, chocolate and roasted earth. The palate follows the nose nicely with great integration of whiskey notes that are ever present yet not so overpowering that you lose the smooth creamy backdrop of milk chocolate and brownies. Long lingering finish.

Thick jet black pour with a thin dark brown head that settles down to a ring with lacing that slides down the glass. Strong sweet milk chocolate aroma with a nice roasted character and some caramel. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, sweet milk chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla in the finish. Coffee aftertaste. Really silky on the palate. Alcohol warmth on the way. I really enjoy this beer.

Bottle @ a recent tasting... Poured pitch black with a thick forming brown head. Big barrel tones on this one with roast, malted grains, sweet toffee, alcoholic bourbon, dark chocolate and oak. Some dark fruit and other dessert-like tones.

Bottle. Aroma of oak, vanilla, whiskey -- lots of booze in the nose. Pours ruby/mahogony, with the faintest hint of mocha head. Taste has more going on than the aroma. Chocolate, roast, oak again. Nice roast bitterness at the end, alcohol isn’t as big as in the aroma (but still brings some heat). Dark fruit in there. Full body, soft carbonation, slick/sticky texture. Overall: Taste is surprisingly complex and nice compared with expectations from the smell. Feels a bit hot to me, but a nice sipper over all.

750 ml. corked bottle. Roasted malt, chocolate and oak aromas. Pours black with a small beige head. Flavors of roasted malt, bourbon, coffee. Some alcohol burn on the finish.

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Pitch black with a short, dense brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, booze, vanilla, chocolate, burnt caramel and candy. Taste is roasted malt, burnt caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, brownies, booze and dark coffee. Body is medium-full and sticky with dense carbonation and moderate alcoholic warmth. Ends with more roasted malt, chocolate cake, brownies, dark chocolate candy bar, booze, vanilla and dark coffee notes, Yummy!

UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 bottle from rare beer club. pour is black and completely flat. aroma is booze and sour grapes. taste is thin watery sour bourbon. bummer infection.

Pours a velvety black with just a slight brown head that quickly fades into a ring. Nose of chocolate powder, whiskey, oak, roast. Taste is oak, roast, tar, ashes, whiskey barrel. I like it a lot. Finishes with a slight burn and a strong hit of black cock. Awesome.

Dark tea brown color like with decent tan like head. Aroma is big sweet whiskey notes, dark fruits and vanilla. Taste is chocolate, a bit of coffee, some dark fruit and oak. This is a very solid brew.

April 20, 2013 - bottle shared by Brandon. Dark brown pour with off white head that faded quickly. Aroma was chocolate, whiskey and some grain. Taste was roasty, caramel, chocolate and whiskey.
