May 17, 2007 On tap at Prairie Rock. Poured a deep reddish-brown with a short cap of deep beige head. Aroma found sweet caramel and semi-sweet chocolate notes.. lots of artificial sweetness apparent.. mild herbal notes show with warmth. The flavor was slightly better than the nose with a semi-sweet chocolate and roasty cocoa base.. lost the artificial sweet notes.. mild herbal bitterness with sweet cocoa on the finish. Grainy and medium-bodied.. sweet overall.. OK at best.

Jul 26, 2005 Very traditional porter nose, a light color for a stout (more brown than dark). The coffee-like overtones that hit you with the aroma continue in the flavor. Goes down smooth.

Jun 21, 2005 Had this one on draught in Elgin, Illinois. A pretty good porter. Nearly opaque, deep blackish/brown color, fizzy head, nose of roses and chocolate, strong tastes of coffee and malt.

Jun 10, 2005 This beer was rather nice, served with a dark brown body, reddish highlights and a creamy, tan ring of a head. Aromas were dark fruits, red wine and a little smoke. Flavor held a good amount of coffee-bitterness and the mouthfeel was soothing... medium-bodied, almost syrupy, with a slightly oily texture. Recommended.
