shared bottle. bought from andy at BAB 2014. all i can say is that this version is way better as the cognac. poured a hazy dark brown colour with a nice lasting mocha tan head. caramel, nuts, oak, bourbon, (more barrel hit as the cognac). raisins, dark fruits. great beer again!

375ml bottle - shared by ElviraS - thanks!
Extremely complex aroma: coconut, bourbon - nicely soft soft, vanilla, and a rich maltiness. Quite heady. However. It’s so soft and light. Nice and woody in the mouth. Dryish. Much better than the cognac one, where the booze stuck out. Here the bourbon works with the malts, rather than against them.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, small head. Nice aroma of vanilla, raisin, ripe fruit and malt. Taste has smooth bourbony vanilla, ripe fruit, cinnammon, brown malt, nuts and some booze in the finish. Good stuff.

Bottle consumed at Cropredy, Fairports Annual Reunion Festival 2015, Thurs 13th, Friday 14th and Sat 15th shared with Craig. The Belgians make great beers, however their record on Bourbon Barrel Aged beers is rather patchy. Hazy murky brown with a few bubbles. This is another patchy one, spicy but with some chocolate quite strong but really struggling with this, too boozy. It reminds me of Innis and Gunn and that is a slur. A6 A3 T5 P3 Ov10 2.7

Bottle. It poured a deep red color with an off-white head. The aroma was of raisins, plums, oak and vanilla. The taste was similar to the aroma with caramel, oak, apple, vanilla, chocolate and some bourbon. It had medium to low carbonation and a nice aftertaste. Tasty.

Tasting at Matt’s; synthetic cork; bottle No. 02737, vintage 2014
Brown color, no head. Aroma of dates, raisins, dark fruits, then bourbon. Lean mouthfeel, very moderate sweetness; quite good malt flavor, the bourbon makes it taste like some kind of vanilla pudding. Low bitterness, a bit boozy.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque cloudy rusted red with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of perfumey notes, some bourbon, with dark fruits and toffee further back. Flavour is similar, with dark fruits, toasted hazelnuts, bourbon and perfume. Odd but interesting mix of flavours. High on the perfumey notes, but they aren’t too cosmetic-like. Good stuff.

(draught) hazy deep brown colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of raisins, sugar icing and fudge, slightly oxidized, with a touch of milk chocolate, roasted malts and bubble gum. flavour is mostly peaches, oak and roasted malts, slightly tart, with a touch of cherry stones, alcohol, lemons and autumn foliage. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

Strange aroma that’s grassy and also a bit like wallpaper paste. Flavour is much nicer with pleasant sweet vanilla in the finish.
