shared bottle. bought from andy at BAB 2014. all i can say is that this version is way better as the cognac. poured a hazy dark brown colour with a nice lasting mocha tan head. caramel, nuts, oak, bourbon, (more barrel hit as the cognac). raisins, dark fruits. great beer again!

Aftertaste: some vanilla, bitter, chocolate, sourish, bourbon, alcohol, bit hoppy, banana, red berries.

Bottle Nr. 00742. Dark hazy brown colour, foamy beige head. Directly after opening the 37,5cl corked bottle, sweet cognac fills the nostrils, accompanied by vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Taste gets these tones as well, with dried fruits, clove, sweet bread, butter adding to a significantly sweet drink. It?s very rounded too, diminishing any real complexity i.m.o., especially compared to other evenly expensive(!), oak aged brews. Aftertaste is mainly sweet, no nice oak dryness or boozy burn. Soft mouthfeel, low carbonation, medium (even a bit thin) bodied. A bit disappointing, but still a special beer.

Bottle. Thanks bobochamp. Pours deep red chestnut with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good duration. Aroma has raisins, plums, sweet oak, light vanilla. Mild vinious. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and quite oily mouthfeel. Flavour has good caramel, clear oak, apple, vanilla. Mild chocolate and warming finish. Great use of the Bourbon for once.

375 ml bottle. #544 to be precise. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head. Aromas of dill, wet wood and very light wine/bourbon. Flavors of raisins, light bourbon barrel, and sweet malts. Wow.

Reddish dark brown with small head. Nose: oak, wood, vanilla, fruity aroma. very nice nose. Taste: very woody, young fresh oask, bit of vanilla. dry, chocolate powder, bit of mocha. bitter, alcohol nicely present. Slightly tintling MF, slightly peated, alcohol sweet in the finish. Did know it was a whisky finish, did not know it was a bourbon, but did call it an Islay (Bruichladdich) whisky. Anyway. Nice BA finish, bit dominated by the wood, some agian will do great on this, limited, beer.

Clear deep amber beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Nice mellow bourbon oak nose. Palate is airy and light, mild fine carbonation. Taste follows the nose and adds mild malt cream and a whisper of dried fruits. Little spice before an airy finish. Woody bitter linger. Comes together well.

Bottle No 375 ml, c&c, into a tulip glass, Dark red brown colour with nice ruby shades when hold under the light. Two fingers of thick light brown head. Good retention, heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, nice bourbon notes, not strong enough to overpower everything else which I liked, some wood. Sweet taste, lots of bourbon and warming alcohol, wood, plums, little bit of raisins, light bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thick body, very good and fitting amount of carbonation. Overall a great beer and what a big difference between this and the cognac aged version, this is so much better.

Bottle 906 from Beautiful Beers. Gentle pop when opened. Beautiful pour with tight creamy head and gorgeous scent of malts and bourbon. Malty caramel sweetness reminiscent of the Quadrupel with a gentle but strong bourbon finish. Absolutely gorgeous. Had many BA beers recently but this one tops it. Stonker.
