shared bottle. bought from andy at BAB 2014. all i can say is that this version is way better as the cognac. poured a hazy dark brown colour with a nice lasting mocha tan head. caramel, nuts, oak, bourbon, (more barrel hit as the cognac). raisins, dark fruits. great beer again!

Hazy and murky dark brown, with a fluffy tan head with decent retention. Smells of sour cabbage (hope it’s not a bad bottle) and some bourbon, cocoa, chocolate, coffee but all of these very feint underneath the pickled cabbage. The taste is sweet, kind of, with milk chocolate, dried fruit and some coffee, all of that hidden underneath a layer of sour cabbage. Dubious beer.

375ml bottle - shared by ElviraS - thanks!
Extremely complex aroma: coconut, bourbon - nicely soft soft, vanilla, and a rich maltiness. Quite heady. However. It’s so soft and light. Nice and woody in the mouth. Dryish. Much better than the cognac one, where the booze stuck out. Here the bourbon works with the malts, rather than against them.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, small head. Nice aroma of vanilla, raisin, ripe fruit and malt. Taste has smooth bourbony vanilla, ripe fruit, cinnammon, brown malt, nuts and some booze in the finish. Good stuff.

Bottle consumed at Cropredy, Fairports Annual Reunion Festival 2015, Thurs 13th, Friday 14th and Sat 15th shared with Craig. The Belgians make great beers, however their record on Bourbon Barrel Aged beers is rather patchy. Hazy murky brown with a few bubbles. This is another patchy one, spicy but with some chocolate quite strong but really struggling with this, too boozy. It reminds me of Innis and Gunn and that is a slur. A6 A3 T5 P3 Ov10 2.7
