UPDATED: DEC 16, 2013 375 ml. corked & caged bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Some 2700 bottles made apparently. Reddish dark brown with a tanned head. Nose is wonderful, vanilla, lots of cocoa, sweet, wood vanilla, caramel, sweet mocha malts etc. Taste is lovely even if not as full as I had hoped going by the smell, sweet, mocha, milk chocolate, plenty of wood vanilla, sweet toffee, some bourbon, sweetish brown sugar. Body is a touch lighter than expected. Pretty good but not on par with cognac, I feel like it could have been even better, still pretty good stuff here.

Bottle 906 from Beautiful Beers. Gentle pop when opened. Beautiful pour with tight creamy head and gorgeous scent of malts and bourbon. Malty caramel sweetness reminiscent of the Quadrupel with a gentle but strong bourbon finish. Absolutely gorgeous. Had many BA beers recently but this one tops it. Stonker.

Top!

shared bottle. bought from andy at BAB 2014. all i can say is that this version is way better as the cognac. poured a hazy dark brown colour with a nice lasting mocha tan head. caramel, nuts, oak, bourbon, (more barrel hit as the cognac). raisins, dark fruits. great beer again!

375 ml bottle. #544 to be precise. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head. Aromas of dill, wet wood and very light wine/bourbon. Flavors of raisins, light bourbon barrel, and sweet malts. Wow.

Gedronken bij een proeverij van Plan b. Holy smokes dit is lekker. Vanille aroma, smaak erg boubon, onwijs zacht bier.

Bottle No 375 ml, c&c, into a tulip glass, Dark red brown colour with nice ruby shades when hold under the light. Two fingers of thick light brown head. Good retention, heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, nice bourbon notes, not strong enough to overpower everything else which I liked, some wood. Sweet taste, lots of bourbon and warming alcohol, wood, plums, little bit of raisins, light bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thick body, very good and fitting amount of carbonation. Overall a great beer and what a big difference between this and the cognac aged version, this is so much better.

Bourbon barrel-aged version of their quadrupel, only 2700 bottles made. Light beige, thin head, dark bronze colour; strong and inviting aroma of dates, whisky, caramel, coffee grounds, chocolate, red berries, vanilla; deep dark fruity taste, low carbo, vinous and very complex with a deep nutty, chocolatey and caramelly maltiness, smooth, sharpish tannins in the finish, clear bourbon presence but not disturbingly so, warming, with aromatic hop bitterishness. An absolute delight.
