UPDATED: AUG 13, 2013 Original review based on memory after returning to US from Bruges:
On draft at ’t Brugs Beertje bar in Bruges. Wonderful beer all-around. Fantastic aroma: dark fruits, figs, lite chocolate, etc. Great taste that mirrors the nose. Slight metallic notes but not in a bad way. Loved it.
New Review based on recent US release:
Bottle poured into snifter. Amazing look, dark garnet/brown color, huge frothy head that’s slightly tan in color. Easy on the eyes. Aroma is wonderful, not overpowering, with those dark fruits and booze that I remember from Bruges. Taste holds up, as well. More dark fruit, fig and a wonderful finish that lingers long on the palate. That slight metallic quality remains as I recall it.
All in all, I’m surprised how well this holds up vs. when I had it over a year ago in Bruges. I didn’t change any of my ratings. Just a really damn good quad.
