750 ml. capped bottle. Bottled 11/27/12. Pours a thick, well retained, tiny bubbled (moussy), light beige head, with some lacing, over a clear copper (SRM 20) body......nose, malts add dark fruit, including raisin, hops add light herbal tones, esters enhance dried fruits adding plum, there is a slight rubbery biochemical aroma....taste, malts add sweet dark fruits including plum, raisin, hops add light bitterness, hints of herbal tones, esters give light spice, including hints of clove, smidgen of allspice, finishing taste is dry with light hop and spice bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, slight astringency, alcohol almost hidden, carbonation adds tingle and slight acid. This falls into the Trappist end of the Abt/Quad portion of Belgian Dark Strong Ales. It is nicely balanced between the malts and hops, and the yeasts add pleasant complexity, unfortunately, the tiny hints of butyric acid are a bit off putting . BJCP 7/3/16/5/8

Brune bien foncée, effervescence moyenne, col fin. Malts caramel grillés, moyennement sucrée-fruitée (raisins noirs, prunes), réglisse assez présente, tout comme le café. ABV loin d’être envahissante! La quadruple est un plaisir et doit le rester!
