4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Initial taste comes across a bit light, yet the beer has a heavy alcohol/tobacco aftertaste. Ideal if you’re a fast drinker and don’t want to bother the waiter too much when you’re having a dinner with your girlfriend :-)

Found this at a bar in San Juan, Puerto Rico. $4 for a bottle. Ubiquitous american lager color and appearance. Typical cheaper pale yellow cheap beer aroma, but not offensive. Decent bubbly carbonation. Taste is mildly bitter but not quite like a good pilsner. Has hints of a cheap american malt liquor on the finish. A pale lager but I’m not sure if this is mild enough to pass for a session brew.

(cleaning out my beer bottle collection as pictured in my profile and utilizing ratebeer.com)
As I recall, smooth pilsner style. Watery and macrobrewed.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Typical South American style pilsner style beer. Only this one has a funky smell. Quite odd actually. It MUST be consumed ICE COLD.

Um... I thought my beer may have been skunked but it was unlikely because I purchased it in a a Dominican neighborhood, so i think it just rather sucks. Aroma was rotted skunked vegetables. Taste was pretty much the same. This beer was barely drinkable. my friend didn’t even finish one.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
THOUGHTS: Finally rating the beers I had on New Year’s Day. Another typically bad pale lager. Sure it must be quite refreshing in a tropical climate, but hell it was supposed to snow the night I tried it and it wasn’t hitting the spot.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium yellow with nice carbonation and a small, fizzy, white head that fully diminished. The aroma was light malt and light grassy hops. Very weak aroma. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, while the finish was moderately sweet and bitter, lightly acidic and a little sour with a short duration. The wasn’t much flavor. There was a little malt and a little grassy hops that were well balanced, but very, very weak. The light body was watery with fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish.

This was one of the more disappointing beers I’ve had from central America. The name "Pilsener" is a joke...this is a pale lager, in my opinion, one step down from one like Yuengling but perhaps a small notch up from the American macros. It’s pretty bland and has a creamy taste. To its credit, there’s no unpleasant sourness. Almost no bitterness. Worth trying once. Ironically, it does not go well with Dominican food...which is quite rich and flavorful and, in my opinion, demands a more powerful beer.

330ml bottle. From Shropshire - vintage unknown. Crown and bottle in decent condition. Served chilled and poured carefully. Some carbonation remaining. Fairly pale. Some remaining sweetness. Little bitterness. There’s very little about this to suggest any great age. An acceptable drink.
