Presidente is a Dominican icon of quality and pride. Skunky and dirty nose. Light gold color with a quick fizzy head. Rough, grainz taste; tight dry end. Thin-ish and overall just not a pleasant brew to drink.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2005 Crystal clear, bright, somewhat light yellow/golden color, good foaming white head that remains longer than expected. This is one of those beers where you don’t know if the skunk aroma you get is accident or just a natural by-product. At any rate, no awards for aroma, which is dry and includes a faint odor of a cigarette ashtray or the smell of the clothes of a two-pack-a-day smoker. It is crisp, with fewer off-putting adjunct flavors that one might expect. This remarkable achievement of Dominican Republic brewing must have been made possible by the dilution of the beer, because the beer finishes very quickly with a lasting sense that this is carbonated water and a dash of "essence of beer #62b" flavor additive. In sum, this beer achieves some of what you expect of a warm-climate beer--crisp, palatable, not overly offensive--but is deeply flawed and worthy of drinking only if there are no better alternatives or you’re seeking to try a beer from the Dominican Republic, as I was until tonight.... //Re-rated October 2005: skunky sweet, drier flavor, not too complex, plain yellow, goes flat quickly...all told, a 1.5 (3-3-3-2-6)

When I asked, the bar tender said it tasted like Heineken. I don't like Heineken but even Heineken is better than this beer. He must have been confused by the green bottle. Although, I would drink this beer over Heineken for the pure fact that I am anti yuppi.

This should be called bland beer and not Presidente. Like just about every other crappy pale lager. It does its job.

pours a pale golden with a medium head that quickly dissapeared, the aroma was some what skunky corn and malt, as is the taste, body is a little watery, this is a boring skunky beer.

Sample from a bottle. Clear gollden pour with bubbly white head. Grassy metallic corn/grain notes. Cardboard and skunk. Better after drinking a bit, but hit hard at first and did not give a good initial impression. Also overly carbonated. I’m sure it’s infinitely better when consumed on the shores of the Dominican Republic.

Bottle: Clear yellow pour with a thin white head. Sweet and just a little skunky. Tastes the same. The weakest of four Caribeann lagers sampled tonight. Still, thanks to Jordan for adding some variety.

While in the US Virgin Islands, I saw this brew from Dominican Republic owned by Miller. I figured it was worth a try. Extremely light but with a hint of "flavor". Think miller light. Pours a pale straw to gold yellow. Short lived head disappeared almost beofre the galss was full. No real strong aroma other than wet corn stalks. Corny, grassy and mild. When cold it was reasonable for a bottle of the barrel beer. When it warmed up it got funkier. Not recommended, but it isn’t Miester Brau either. (Wow, I’m dating myself)
