2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
$2 can at Frietkoten Belgian Fries & Beer. I admit. I kind of liked it. Slightly sweet adjuncty smell, yes. But the pour is golden yellow with a respectable bubbly head, looking better than a lot of the pissy American lites. The label clearly mentions "refined corn and sugar," so it’s not hiding its adjuncts. Yes, there is some corn sweetness, but with a matching bitterness that’s often missing in a foreign pale lager. For a beer you can get for $2 at a nice place in Chicago to sit down with a cone of frites… not bad.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle, thanks VipinVelp! Blonde. Lemon in the slightly grainy aroma. Grainy flavor with hints of apple and citrus. Sticky, lacks even hints of hopbitterness. Hint of soap in the aftertaste. But yes, it’s drinkable.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle, 7 oz. A clear, golden beer with a small, white head. The aroma is very weak, with pale malts, some dusty cellar notes and a generic fruityness. It’s dry one the palate, rather thin, with a decent carbonation level. Fruity, grainy flavor with a decent bitterness. Lasting finish with some bitterness and fruityness. Rather boring this one, drinkable though, but only in an emergency. 150228

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Fizzy yellow pour with a whiter head. Aroma is cereal grains. Taste has little flavor- cereal grains, little grassy, not much else. Not horrible, just little flavor. Best described as we, cereal-grain based beverage. So-so lacing. On the other hand, it is the beer of choice for my favorite serial killer (i.e. Dexter)

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz US import bottle, hence no bb. Pale yellow with firm whipped eggwhite cap. Fresh enough filtered proteins, grain husks in aroma. Onset starts pleasantly citrus-hoppy, mild cardboard. Mid slump, going off into spent grain and mais territory, resurfacing with aluminium herbal notes. Dry paper finish. Not as bad as expected, hence I would spontaneously combust into eulogy: A credible enough Dominican icon of quality and pride that has kept a strong linkage with freshness, entertainment and young adults. In that particular order.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Presidente) Bottle 355 ml, from a trade with vipinvelp, thanks Werner! New country. Served into a glass tankard, ABV 5%
Golden yellow colour on the body with a tall and sopay white head sitting on top. Very good retention, leaving medium lacing behind.
Aroma has fresh grass, light malts, some lemon notes.
Tastes okay, again some grass, metallic notes, band aid, the lemon notes again notable on the finish.
Medium thin body, carbonation on the high side.
Well I just came back from a twelve hour day at work, and I wanted something that doesn’t need to be dissected. This one hit the spot.

A mildly sweet pilsener. Aroma is nearly non-existent. Nothing particularly special.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Pots light yellow with off-putting aroma. Heavy carbonation yet light head. Not much going on in this pils.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle at Ben and Sonja’s. Presidente is a great name for a hot country lager, conjouring images of dictators, hot weather and corruption. Scorchio! Buono estente! Chris Waddle! Terrible beer, adjunct, slightly corny sweet, lacks hop character. I’ll take the recommended lime next time.
