COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Regular. ABV varies.
NOTE: As explained by the brewery in the commercial description, this beer is often made to varying recipes with different hops. Please make sure you put your review under the correct entry. The hops used are clearly identified on the label so there’s no excuse!

Everyone likes a pale ale and we’re no different. We like to mix up the aroma hops a bit and you will find that Pale Fire comes in different versions sometimes. We have hopped with Mosaic and Amarillo, Amarillo and Citra, Nelson Sauvin and others including the legendary Hop X, an English trial-hop being developed by Dr Peter Darby at Wye Hops.

Bottle at home in London. Pours just slightly hazy but vibrant gold with a rich, lasting white froth head. This smells gorgeous, with loads of fresh citrus fruits, tangerine, juicy orange, some dry grapefruit. The flavor doesn’t quite match the nose in terms of goodness, but it’s decent. Lightly sweet with a mellow citrus character, hints of pine needles, some pale malts. Light bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Fresh and clean to finish with suggestions of white wood, lemon, tangerine, pine needles, pale malts, and grapefruit. This one starts like a rocket but fizzles out a bit as you work through it. Very drinkable, but I’m left feeling this beer could use a jolt.

Pint. Manor House Wanstead. Not sure of the version but it was 4.8%. Not bad. A little hoppy. Easy drinking. It won’t change your life but a good option.

Pours a hazy yellow to orange with a thin white head, soft carbonation and a touch of lacing. Aroma is marmelade, mango, lemon and a nice light caramel. Taste is quite bitter with a nice mouthfeel from the wheat and decent body for the ABV accompanied with a good medium finish. All in all, pleasant and drinkable pale ale.

Big white head. Clear coppery body. Citric resiny aroma with gooseberry notes. Clean and fresh. Dry-sweet citric gooseberry taste with resiny floral notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, chalky mouthfeel. Dryish orangey gooseberry aftertaste with lime and flour notes. Nice, fresh, drinkable. (0.33l bottle from somewhere in London. Label doesn’t say what hops. 4.8%)

Bottle shared. Something doesn’t feel right, too much cardboard covering the tropical flavors, tough to judge really. All that can be said is it doesn’t seem to travel well...

Tap at Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden. Appearance: medium white head which dissapears quickly, light gold colour, hazy. Aroma: hops - grapefruit, apricot, lemon and also grass. Taste: a little sour at the beginning, then bitter. Palate: medium bodied, long bitter finish, average carbonation. Proper aroma, proper taste, good beer.

Bottled shared at Gremlin. Thanks Neil! Light tropical fruit notes, some pineapple and peach in there as well. Slightly watery on the palate and tastes a little papery. Finish dissipates very quickly. I like the nose a lot though.
