Bottled; Regular. ABV varies.
NOTE: As explained by the brewery in the commercial description, this beer is often made to varying recipes with different hops. Please make sure you put your review under the correct entry. The hops used are clearly identified on the label so there’s no excuse!

Everyone likes a pale ale and we’re no different. We like to mix up the aroma hops a bit and you will find that Pale Fire comes in different versions sometimes. We have hopped with Mosaic and Amarillo, Amarillo and Citra, Nelson Sauvin and others including the legendary Hop X, an English trial-hop being developed by Dr Peter Darby at Wye Hops.

Bottle at home in London. Pours just slightly hazy but vibrant gold with a rich, lasting white froth head. This smells gorgeous, with loads of fresh citrus fruits, tangerine, juicy orange, some dry grapefruit. The flavor doesn’t quite match the nose in terms of goodness, but it’s decent. Lightly sweet with a mellow citrus character, hints of pine needles, some pale malts. Light bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Fresh and clean to finish with suggestions of white wood, lemon, tangerine, pine needles, pale malts, and grapefruit. This one starts like a rocket but fizzles out a bit as you work through it. Very drinkable, but I’m left feeling this beer could use a jolt.

Note: I’m just gonna assume I had the "regular" version, it was on tap and the bartender had no clue about different versions. So there IS an excuse, I guess. :p
Clear orange beer, small creamy off-white to yellow head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet ripe fruits, bit sugary, mango, some caramel. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, some mango, sweet caramel, almost ripe banana, bit cheesy, nice bitterness. Aftertaste: grapefruit, cheesy touch, pretty bitter, fruity, citrus. Very loveable!

330ml bottle: BBD 8/12/15. drank at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury on 26/11/14. Light amber with a mini-haze and a small white head. Hoppy aroma, with citrus, tropical fruits, and some pine esters. The taste was bitter and citrus led with an undertone of tropical fruitiness: dry finish to this brew.

Keg @ the Fox, Haggerston. Golden and slightly sparkling. Piney resiny hop, apple and white spirit aroma. Bittersweet followed by a massively hoppy bitterness. Long bitter finish. Not my best review but I’m drunk and I don’t do backlog. Mark my words this is proper stuff.

Flavour is malt caramel with fruity mango and juicy orange rind citrusy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry tangy hoppy bitter finish. Very drinkable APA.

Keg at Draft House. It may well have specified the hops, but I obviously wasn’t paying attention. Cloudy orange, opaque, small white head. Aroma has some light orange peel. Body is medium, spritzy carbonation, not foamy. Taste is citrussy soda water, hay, light bitterness. Nice enough APA.

Taste is oily white grape, grapefruit, light tropical fruits, touch pine, faint mango, light candy. Oily, very easy to drink. Very lovely, easy drinking beer. Nice work.

Bottle, birthday present from Lakshmi. Pours a hazy orangey amber colour, medium foam. Very aromatic, fruity hops, passion fruit, peach, some citrus. A fairly sweet pale ale, medium bitter finish. Tasty stuff. The best I’ve had from this brewery, and also the most ’conventional’; there may be a lesson in there.

33 cl bottle.
Pours not that pale orange color with a large head. There’s mandarin all over the place, floral hops, some resin notes and grass. Juicy mandarin on the flavor also, gooseberries, faint grapefruits and maybe a tad of pineapple on the aftertaste. Bitter and fruity, crisp and tasty.

Bottled. Amber colour with a slight haze and a very small off-white head. A big, hoppy aroma of citrus, honey, tropical fruit, and pine. In the mouth there’s a very dry, bitter hoppiness, with citrus and tropical fruit in the background. A very dry, clean finish. Excellent.
