3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber hue in my snifter, off white head with ok retention reduces to a small cap. Scent is dark fruit heavy: plum and raisen. Burnt sugar, yeast. Taste is a bit more muted, but sweet. Light bodied and well carbonated. I find it hard to fathom that 9% abv can be this well hidden, but it is.

Bottle. A hazy light brown with a reddish tint. Sweet and malty aroma. Sweet taste, layers of malt, some alcohol apparent as it warms. Medium to full bodied, minimal carbonation.

Bottle from Beer Cartel (April 2014)). Murky red/brown, minimal tan head, lots of jammy fruit, candy sugar, spices, Belgian yeast, low bitterness, medium sweetness, full body, syrupy texture, sweet boozy finish. Nice.

Bomber shared poured a medium somewhat murky brown color. Aroma sweet malt a dark fruits most likely plums. The flavor was a bit on the lighter side for a quad. Plenty of plums though. For a quad a little disappointed.

Tap @ Torst. Served a fraction warm but to be fair allowed the flavours to fully come out. Plenty of malt driven sweetness, cooked fruits and a little spice to finish. All very classical and text book. No surprise that this is a little cleaner than a typical Belgian.

66 cl bottle, thanks to Lukasmh! Clear brown with a small, white head. Aroma has lots of Belgian esters, prunes, dates, figs, licorice, vinous alcohol. Taste has sweet, fruity flavors up front, some bitter, toasted malts, alcohol, dry and sweet finish. Pretty full body and medium carb. Not bad!

Bottle. Pours brown mahogany with small beige head. Aroma is big on dried dark fruits. Caramel and mollasses. Slight toast and eatery. Taste is sweet dried fruits, malty caramel. Some anis and liquorice in the end. Nice American take on quad. Smooth body.

The plum flavor is very prominent. Has a beautiful aroma and smooth to drink. Just a little funky in the finish.

Serving: Bottle at Birch & Barley. It pours a dark cola like color with a dense, lasting head. There is a bit of stone fruit in the nose with some Belgian yeast esters. The flavor is a little sweet with notes of raisin, a little date, yeast, dark caramel, and candy sugar. It doesn’t have the depth of flavor or the robust mouthfeel of some the better Belgian quads. Pretty good.
