COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Baby tree is a "quadruple" brewed with a single strain of Belgian yeast. While a commonly used style name on the internet, "quadruple" isn’t in fact a style name at all but a brand of beer produced by La Trappe in the Netherlands. Its found a common usage as a cover-all for the darkest and strongest beers produced by Trappist monks, mainly because they haven’t named them themselves. Two Belgian brewers use the term "Abt", Flemish for "Abbot". Historically the best beer made in an abbey (by the Cistercians/Trappists at least) was referred to in Latin simply as "prima melior". This has also become a brand name in recent years. Our "quadruple" benefits from the addition of 40lbs of dried California plums in the kettle - hopefully contributing to the overall dark-fruit character of the beer. It’s a dark, 8.6% beer..."Baby Tree" is Pretty Things’ first seasonal beer.

Brewed and bottled by Dann Paquette of Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project, Inc. at Buzzards Bay. Previously brewed at Paper City. Not a Paper City or Buzzards Bay brand beer.

I love quads but this is not up there. I'm glad I tried it but not again. Low carbonation almost flat. Aroma does not leave me longing for it. Very bland and color is lack luster as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

66 cl bottle, thanks to Lukasmh! Clear brown with a small, white head. Aroma has lots of Belgian esters, prunes, dates, figs, licorice, vinous alcohol. Taste has sweet, fruity flavors up front, some bitter, toasted malts, alcohol, dry and sweet finish. Pretty full body and medium carb. Not bad! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours brown mahogany with small beige head. Aroma is big on dried dark fruits. Caramel and mollasses. Slight toast and eatery. Taste is sweet dried fruits, malty caramel. Some anis and liquorice in the end. Nice American take on quad. Smooth body.

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends in Copenhagen. Sweet smell with caramel, roasted sugar and dried fruit. Similar taste. Very nice.

The plum flavor is very prominent. Has a beautiful aroma and smooth to drink. Just a little funky in the finish.

Serving: Bottle at Birch & Barley. It pours a dark cola like color with a dense, lasting head. There is a bit of stone fruit in the nose with some Belgian yeast esters. The flavor is a little sweet with notes of raisin, a little date, yeast, dark caramel, and candy sugar. It doesn’t have the depth of flavor or the robust mouthfeel of some the better Belgian quads. Pretty good.

Woozy!!! Lovely plums! This is a fruity quad. A bit dry. Straight rocket warmth to the brain. Sweet and playful. A bit wine like if not carbonated. Bitter after. Dark and deep brown. Small head. Lovely. Just lovely. A great starter quad for the uneducated. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"pretty good beer - but for a quad, a little under what i’ hoped. sweet candy-like aroma and flavor. very malty, almost sticky, which can work for the style, but it was one dimensional for sure. not enough belgian yeast coming through, and i thought it tasted a little too much like another beer or two of theres...so maybe i’m looking for less house flavor and more difference between styles. still nice after all that :)"

Bottle. Hazy deep copper liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of lemon, white pepper, toffee, caramel, light iron and grain. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of toffee, grain and caramel. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Pretty good.

Gosh darn, gol dang Europeans haven’t got anything better to do than to drink ’our’ beer and make their nice comments about it, dag nab it! By gum, this here beer is brewed in Somerville, Massachusetts by red-blooded Americans! I wouldn’t put it in the same class as the various Belgian Trappistes, but it is an impressive offering from the Somervillians, or perhaps the Somer-villains, I was never sure in all the years I lived there. I’m proud of you lads. If the Euros like it, it’s probably pretty damn good!

Dark coppery pour producing a small tanned head. Aroma of malts, red berries and yeast. Taste is also malt-driven but has a nice touch of fruityness. Full bodied and softly carbonated.
