4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber from The Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont. Pours a deep amber with a thin off-white head that soon disappears. Slightly astringent aroma with deep fruit tones. Flavor big stewey fruit, sweet with a light bitter, salt to balance. Medium body with a fine natural carbonation, fitting the full flavor profile. Overall a little on the sweet side, and a delicious beer, to be savored.

Always impressed with Pretty Things. Murky brown pour. Sweet dark fruits and caramel blend with drier, toastier malts. Nice and weighty, very full flavor. Impressive.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
11/27/2013. 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of dried fruit, malt, and Iím picking up some odd aromas almost like plastic. Itís a little sweet at first with the alcohol being very pronounced. Itís sticky and almost leave a coating in your mouth. The balance is off and while drinkable, it does not stand up to the true Trappist style.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Amber/brown colored pour. Bordering on a toffee color. Small off-white head that quickly falls down. No lacing. Aroma of vinegar, slightly. Some raisin and date. Mostly the acetic note. Taste is a vinegar-y raisin mess. Not the best example of this style, or beer for that matter. Still it has some decent qualities and if it was a sour beer it might have been received a little better.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of dark bread and roasted grain, light cooked orange for the hops, moderate leather and meat for the yeast, with hints of fig, toffee and a hint of red wine. Head is small to average size, frothy, off-white with fair lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear mahogany. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, acidic and bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a sof tcarbonation anda modrately alcoholic and chewy finish. A littl bland for a Quadrupel, but a good Belgian warmer nonetheless.

Tap @The Publick House, Brookline, MA
Dark, almost opaque black color, steady beige head. Candy sugar, dark fruits in the nose. Medium to full bodied. Very much strong Belgian yeasty flavor. Candy sugar, some spices, dark fruits, alcohol. By ageing this would be super.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, less than a year old. Pours clear with a frothy fleeting head, some lace and legs. The aroma is strong ripe dark fruit, plums, alcohol, some spices, caramel. The flavor is deep boozy sweetness with some raisins, wood, light spice, noticeable bitterness. Feel is watery, sticky, light prickly carbonation. Itís good. After having all the Trappist quads last week I wouldnít put it up against the better of those.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Grapevine Wine and Spirits. Nose is big molasses, dates, figs, some plum and yeast. Pour is dark, dark brown with a big head. Flavor is very fruity with a dominant molasses flavor to it. Itís nice, not too sweet, and great to sip on. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 10/8 notes. 22oz bottle pours clear dark mahogony brown with 1 finger head. Nose is raisin, earthy, maple, molasses. Mouth feel is full, but not as syrupy as some quads. Taste is big molasses, some grainy cereal notes, worcestershire sauce, red meat. Finish is dark bread, raisin bran, bittersweet. Good but not exciting.
