Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of perfume, some citrus notes, spice, ginger, dry malt. Tastes of pepper, light citrus, pepper, floral with a crisp, dry finish. Well rounded.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at Pony. Slightly hazy pour with a tight creamy white head. The nose is odd. Sort of a light honeyish sweetness with a kiss of light herbal hop character on the back as well. The yeast used seems to have been quite clean. There is only the faintest kiss of spiciness. A sort of white sugar sweetness on the palate. Itís not cloyingly sweet but serving this on cask certainly doesnít do it any favours.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle pours deep gold with a medium white head. Aroma is candied sugar, pale malts and light alcohol. Flavor is sweet karo syrup, grassy malts, and a peppery hop finish that is super dry with only a hint of alcohol. The balance in this beer is great, one of the best triples I have had to date.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber, bottled March 2010. Pours a clear, shining, bright golden hue with a moderate, fading head of smooth, cream colored foam. A soapy wash ensues after each sip, leaving behind a few wet spots that struggle to cling to the glass. The aroma is, as advertised, quite aggressively hopped for a tripel, showing an overtone of very peppery, lemony and grassy resins. Requisite notes of blonde candy sugar, citrus peel, coriander, and other zesty spices complete the nose. Flavors follow suit, very bitter and citrus driven, with distinct notes of lemon peel, grass, white pepper, and coriander, all showing atop an alcoholic candy sugar base with hints of creamy chiffon. I actually like the intense hoppiness and the spicy Belgian yeast, as they tend to overpower the boozy candy sweetness. The palate is substantial, but dry as a desert, with a fine but lively carbonation that propogates the striking, spicy bitterness and keeps it stinging the tongue. Pretty solid as tripels go.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Have not yet had a hoppy tripel that i did not like, and i have not yet had a beer or ale from Pretty Things that I did not like. Looks like a tripel, hazy gold with a firm white head, although I have seen fluffier tripel heads. Nose of yeast, hops, and a touch of spice. Average mouth feel for a tripel. Taste of, well, yeast and bread and hops.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle, "Mar 2010 Spring Time!", purchased in PA. Pours a bright, golden-yellow color, hazy and effervescent; rejuvenating, creamy, fine-bubbled white head with solid retention and decent lacing. Pleasant spicy and herbal bitterness in the aroma, coupled to white pepper, mild yellow fruits (some lemon rind), and some light honeyed malts; nothing especially sweet here, and negligible alcohol rearing its head; generally solid nose, if the hop character is a bit dulled at this point. Medium body; lively carbonation; lightly creamy, with no astrigency or overt alcohol in the mouth; definitely a lively, rounded, balanced presentation; very nice; moderate amounts of honey, citrus, and a soft core sweetness, along with somewhat stronger mineral and spicy hop bitterness than the aroma lets on; modestly balanced (although it could be a touch dryer); nice, peppery yeast character; again, the alcohol is relatively quiet here, just lounging on the periphery as a very mild warmth and vinous hint. Lengthy finish: mineral/herbal bitterness, white pepper; nicely dry. Yum.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Vancouver. Fresh, spring-like and dew aroma with bright clean hops a fruit Belgian nose and some candied sugar and warmth. Glowing. Hazy golden-yellow with a lacy white rim. Seems a hybrid between an IPA and a Tripel...but in my books thatís just fine. Well worth sampling.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 ounce bottle from Grain & Vine, Hyannis in Duvel glass. Clear orange with lasting flat head. Orangey spicy hop aroma with a hint of bubblegum. Orangey fruity sweetness medium bready with some spicy hops lingering in the finish. Decent texture, internal carbo. Not sure why this is underwhelming. Iím a big fan of tripels, Chouffe Houblon, and Belgian IPAs. Perhaps more attenuation and aroma hopping would help.
