Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle shared by Leems. Poured light gold with a hefty white head and a ton of carbonation. Smells of citrus, honey, lemon zest and a little spice. Tastes of yeast, citrus and floral hops, pepper, lemon and honey. Lively carbonation makes this one fun to drink. I have liked all the PT beers Ive had so far and will keep an eye on these guys in the future.

Bottle... Poured pale, golden with a white head. Big time yeast esters, cloves, bubblegum, grassy, slightly dry, candied sweetness, floral hops, and a little booziness.

Bomber bottled March 2011, batch 2. Pours a dark golden orange that is completely opaque with a 1.5 finger frothy white head that quickly settles into a thick lasting ring. Rings and streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Earthy aroma with lots of zesty spice, light fruit and a slight vegetal character. Hints of pepper and coriander along with subtle booze and earthy, piny hops. The resinous earthy hops notes along with the spice give it kind of a saison feel. Underneathe there is a prevalent estery presence with hints of apple, pear and apcot along with some alcohol phenol. Fuller bodied than expected with a crisp hop bite up front that lingers over the spice, yeast, alcohol and light fruit notes into a slightly dry finish. The floral hops give off a dry, earthy bitterness with some soil/pine character up front which counter the sweeter notes of the beer pretty nicely. Not overly hoppy but just enough to add some complexity and balance. The hops are complimented by some zesty spice, namely pepper, coriander and candy sugar. I’m also picking up some citrus and other light fruits, orange peel, apple, pear and apricot. There is a lot of alcohol flavor toward the end of the palate but I wouldn’t really call this beer hot. This is a unique twist on the triple style that they pulled off pretty well.

Slatetank (17) - York, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 18, 2011
I had this at O’reilly’s in Harrisburg -served chilled in a pint allowed to gradually rise in temp. The color is brilliant golden with sunset appearance with golden brown near the crown so light at the base toward amber above with a rocky 1 inch cap. There is light chill haze with visible carbonation that moves upward slowly. The bead is fine and the lace sticks in a frothy way to the glass. The smell is sweet with some tropical notes from the yeast and a slight orange rind aroma with mild floral hop odors and slight spice with a hint of alcohol. The feel is moderately full bodied with some sugary edges and moderately bitter which gives the perception of balance with the sugar texture and smooth creamy yeast which also brings out some hop acidity and mild toasted malt textures to round out the feel with a semi-dry finish. The flavor up front is yeasty, tangy and gently sweet with a mild malt body and hint of ripe tropical fruit which leads to a more citrus and spice flavor and the bitterness comes forward in the middle. The flavor is lightly toasted in the malt dept and a slight grassy herbal element also peeks through with only a slight amount of alcohol in the flavor. The gentle citrus notes add a mild level of astringency and you get the idea there is some candy sugar as the flavor leans to the sweet side but a hint of hoppiness is still present in the finish. I liked this beer a lot, it is a satisfying and drinkable beer for the abv, I think it fits the style well -a hoppier, more American take on the tripel style which is refereshing and well brewed.

22oz bottle from Capone’s, Norristown, PA. Another interesting and satisfying beer from these folks. Inviting cloudy gold pour with lively carbonation. Nose wasn’t quite as dry and grassy as expected, but instead combined these qualities with a nice floral sweetness. Full bodied, earthy, with the malt presence happily rather subdued. A goodern.

Pretty interesting. Looks like a tripel, with a cloudy amber-orange glow and a decent off-white head. Nose is spicy and citrusy....the standard tripel aromas of banana and clove, along with a more herbal note. Not as fruity as some I’ve had. Flavor is nice and herbal, dry, with an alcoholic warmth to it.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a large white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of banana, clove, sweet grains, other light fruits and pretty strong floral note. Flavor begins sweet and perfumey with floral and flight fruit notes with a bit of spice and clove coming out in the finish.

Cloudy deep golden pour with a magnanimous white head. Aroma holds lots of bready yeast, grassy hop, and tons of sage and other herbal notes. Flavor is much the same, with again dominant herbal presence mixed with some white grapefruit and lemon. Interesting, and very close to too herbacious for me, but still quite nice. Crisp palate. Pretty nice stuff.

bomber had after dinner. Golden cloudy color with a head that faded even with a vigouous pour. The aroma was a belguim yeast perfume with orange. Also got lots of grassiness and hay aroma. The taste was a light sweetness with a meduim bitter into the ending. Easu drinking texture and did not notice the high abv at all.
