Cloudy gold beer, little white head. Light palate, softish with fine carbonation. Sweet malt with mild estery banana. Malt cream and a dash of clove spice. Underneath is mild citrus hop. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Nicely joined up. Rarely disappointed by Pretty Things.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Appeared as a stunning glowing yellow that showed a slight hazing inside the liquid while a soapy layer of foam rested on top. Aroma smells traditional to a Belgian abbey tripel but I also detect a hefty whiff of hops too. The flavor comes across soapy with a pleasant amount of Belgian yeast giving off a taste of spice. This drinks smooth and is the perfect example of what the abbey tripel IPA’s should be all about. The other ones weren’t as balanced as this comes across.

Big bottle from San Fran drank at home with the missus (doing her Bond/Lana rehearsal). Yellow and streaming with a piled rocky foam. Soapy lemony nose with mellow funk, lemon curd, grass, coriander and herb. Mellow lemony flavour with an almond smoothness, hints of zest, watery Belgian stylings, the overall impression one of lemon curd sprinkled with ground coriander seed and sawdust. Could use some spiky US hop to counteract/complement the perfume. Pretty average- got bored and blended some with Keith’s demented Wolvey Moonshine and nutmeg.

Bottle from John’s Grocery. The pour is a murky yellowish-gold with a thin short-lived head fading away on top. Floral and herbal notes are apparent in the aroma with chamomile coming to mind. That mixes with soda water, honey, yeast, and a little banana. This is a little odd at first. My initial thought was that this tasted like a party punch made with pineapple, orange juice, and ginger ale. An herbal character is throughout; lavender and chamomile notes, with sour lemon and some citrusy hops. Zippy carbonation and citrusy rind bitterness makes some sticky sweetness tolerable. This is a beer that no doubt grew on me but I still was never really fully into it.

Bottle. Pour is bright, slight hazy gold with a white head, some retention/little lace. Aroma of citrus/grassy hops, candy sugar, belgo yeast, bread, apple. Taste is moderately bitter, citrus/grassy/floral hops, light sweetness, fruity esters, apple. Palate is dry, soft, a bit oily, bitter finish. Good, and at $6/bomber much more affordable than Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen.

Great hops and Belgian integration. Citrus and strong American hops. Tasty and good drinkability. Decent head and lace on cloudy body.

Draft at railroad. Pours clear copper with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma Is pretty typical for a tripel with a little extra kick. The taste is medium bitter and not like your typical. This adds a new dimension to the style
