Our first Spring, we brought you a magical tree full of waving babies… and the Baby Tree has stuck around, we’re happy to say. So for our second Spring, and each Spring since, we’ve made a pale gold, hoppy triple called Fluffy White Rabbits. This is a fun and Springy beer: possibly even our fun-est beer. In Yorkshire, they say “White Rabbits” on the first of the month for luck, and here’s to a lovely warm Springtime for all of us!

The beer is 8.5% abv, with Saaz, Styrian Goldings and Strisselspalt hops added aplenty. Fluffy mouthfeel: yes, really! There’s a faint sweetness with tropical fruit undertones. Fluffy White Rabbits is a very “Pretty Things” take on a Triple.

We use what we think are the finest ingredients around: malts from Weyermann (Germany) and Fawcett (Yorkshire) in this beer.

It’s a fun one, we hope you enjoy it!

Bottle - Honey, grains, light spices and sweet yeast. Cloudy yellow with a rich white head. Too rich, too malty and too bitter. The finish kills it for me.

Bottle served in my Big Ole Tripel Karmeliet glass: Pours initially clean golden hue with a nice frothy head and spotty lace. (final pour is a yeasty and cloudy) The aroma has notes of mangoes, peaches, bananas, and star fruit esters over layers of biscuity sweet malts with a dash of pepper. The taste is malty foremost but does display a nice refreshing kick of bitterness on the edges, fruity and lightly earthy as well. The mouth feel is soft and slightly chewy with a moderate alcohol warming. Overall I was quite pleased with this brew.

1PT 6floz bottle. A year and a half in the cellar. Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin off-white head, and sediment floaters. Aroma is musty with lemon, pineapple, floral and herbal notes, honey, and yeast. The taste is citrus, and tropical fruit up front, followed by a mineral heavy bitterness that leads into some paraffin, and yeast with a good mineral finish. I’m impressed.

Tap at Armsby Abbey, it takes a lot for me to get excited about a tripel, and this is no exception. just meh all around, fluffy white head, and standard tripel taste.

Pours a hazy straw color with a large, well-retaining, white, fluffy head. Banana and pear nose with some hints of Belgian yeast. Smooth, moderately weighty mouthfeel with a surface scrubbing. Belgian yeast, earthy notes, and some fruity sweetness that only yields to some bitterness at the very finish. Lingering alcohol persists in the rear of the palate.

Cloudy orange pour with a 3 finger, frothy off white head. Aroma is citrus, bread, toast, caramel, cereal, a little toffee, tree fruit and spicy phenols. Flavor is sweet caramel, sweet malt, spicy phenols (a little pepper, lots of earth pie spice), light buttery toffee nuts, citrus and spicy, earthy hops. Syrupy, somewhat chewy feel throughout with a light to medium strength, blanketing carbonation. Pretty good overall, solid Tripel with no big faults other than value. It doesn’t have any effect on my score, but $14/bomber is a bit much for a decent Tripel.

Bottle. This is a really nice Trip with more hop zip than usual which helps cut through the sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a nice, laced head. Sweet aroma with some hops. Smells like berries and sugar. Nice, smooth flavor. Very sweet. Some hint of hops. Does not seem like 8.5% but still a really good brew.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a thin white head. Aroma of bready malt, light fruits, citrus, clove, melon. Flavor of sweet fruits, bready malt, sweet malt, just a hint of peppery spices. It’s good, but not really hoppy. Pretty drinkable for an 8.5%. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)
