FRINGE AMERICAN PALE ALE is a dry, pale golden, 5.3%, hoppy pale ale using Chinook and Amarillo hops. The dryness and soft body are driven home by an almost dank Grapefruit pith character. If you just read the last sentence and thought “my goodness that doesn’t sound like a Pretty Things beer”, then this one truly is our “fringe” beer. Fringe is the sort of beer you crack a bit cool on a hot day in the yard. Don’t save it for a rainy day though – drink it now.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is moderate pale stone fruit and some lightly toasty malt. Med body or almost. Flavor is slightly toasty malt, pale stone fruit, possibly a touch of citrus. Maybe even a touch of earthiness. It’s dry and fairly bitter. I kept it in a frig, but maybe the citrus hop aspects went down over a few months. Still a nice drink tho.

Appearance: pours with a large light beige head, the beer is a slightly lighter than average gold color, slight haze, head settles into a very nice density with great head retention Aroma: biscuit, bread, straw, wheat grain Taste: wheat grain that’s taken over by a moderate bitterness, faint pine, Palate: light mouthfeel, lively carbonation, bitter aftertaste Overall: not bad, like a light wheat ale with a snappy bitterness, very sessionable, would be great on hot day, could use more complexity ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a golden amber from a bottle. Not much aroma to speak of, a citrusy lemon flavor. Rather dry, nice finish. Good beer.

Bottle share at Leighton’s 15K. Thanks to Leighton. Hazy pale orange, very lightly sparkling, small foamy white head, light lacing. Aroma is cereal, spelt, Weetabix, straw, soft fruits in the background. Body is medium, tingly carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is dry and chalky, minerals, cereal and Weetabix, touches of pine and citrus. Pretty decent and certainly unusual.

Craft Clerkenwell. LKS 15K bash. Thanks to Mr 15K. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, crispy and semi dry. Thin pale malts, not that sweet and with a trace of grain. Mild floralness. Finishes dry and mildly hop spicy with a bitter orange linger. All right.
