3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled on August, 2012: Golden amber. Persistent white head deposits wispy lace on the glass. Pleasant nose of lilac, cherimoya, vanilla cake, candied lemon peel, grassy herbs, tangerine, and white pepper. Hint of candy sugar and gum. Fine carbonation. Moderate punch of alcohol succumbs to a plasticlike phenolic snap upfront. Succulent hop smack joins the refined tangerine juice residuals which gracefully coat the tongue with a flowery brightness. Semi-candyish in sweetness, yet rather than hampering quaffability, the sugars lend tremendous depth. Ample counterbalancing crispness abounds as the sophisticated pils malt gains more vigor from the peppery yeast. Some wheatlike slickness in there, as well. Complex hoppiness ranges from coarsely leafy and bracingly herbaceous to lapping the palate with a Stryianesque lilac-tinged suppleness and ensuing waves of palate-stinging oils. Hints of chalk exude from the fairly high resin content (Columbus?), though plenty of floral elegance remains to keep it from becoming distracting or fatiguing. Well-attenuated finish features a soft mandarin orange explosiveness and a well-textured cakey malt base laced with sassy phenolic fervor and an intricate hop continuation. A tad resinous for my tastes, but there’s plenty of sublime yeast byproducts to make up for it. Comes off as a saison splashed with tripel. Pretty, indeed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy golden yellow. 3 fingers of head that laces nicely. This bottle is 14 months old. The nose is sweet and grassy, the taste is spicy with junk enough barn yard funk. Very enjoyable beer. Could use a tad less spice to be great.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is a hazy yellow with a average white head. Aroma is great! Lots of fruitiness with a big yeast ester. Flavor is lemon juice to start then comes a dull wheaty malt followed by some bitterness and spice. The bottle says this was bottled in Oct 14 so it may be a bit old, maybe I would get more hop is fresher. Still the aroma is great and the flavor is also not bad at all. Nice almost lighter that usual saison.

Draft at the Bridge. Pours yellow with a white head. Leaves a ton of lacing. I can’t say I’m getting much on the nose. Definite bitterness on the tongue and the finish. I do wish their was more barnyard and/or funk. Not really feeling this one.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a light gold-straw color with a hazy appearance, little bubble activity, and a good-sized foamy white head with average retention, cling, and lacing. Its zesty aroma featured lemon, straw, and grass, along with some pine and floral notes and a touch of spice and grain. The taste was a blend of lightly sweet fruity flavors and a bit of citrus with a more-powerful floral, grainy sour taste. The mouthfeel was somewhat subdued with lower carbonation, but it felt somewhat heavy and thick in the mouth nonetheless, with a dry character and body. Thank you Tom and Tracy for the Xmas present!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In an evening that included Dupont, this is the closest of an overwhelming number of 2. The nose is faint fruit with a big white head that leaves some lacing and resolves to a ring. The body is medium - heavier than a Dupont. The taste is hoppier than a Dupont but not s hoppy as the Slumbrew. 22 oz commonly called a bomber. Brewed 12/14
