3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 otakuden (1616) - Vero Beach, Alabama, USA - JAN 9, 2011Appearance: pours with a thick off-white head which lingers rocky, blotchy, and mousse-like. Thickest along edges. Translucent whites and creams with a touch of orange.
Nose: pineapple, apple, apricot, and pear skin. Lemon and orange pith for a dry essence of said citrus. Green grass blades and hop cones mingle. Spice flitters in and out.
Palate: sweet up front, dry then spiced. Pineapple skins and coconut husk. Wood splinters and sawdust tease the edges while cinnamon and nutmeg dance about. Sweetness of pineapple, apples, and apricots provide a fruity middle.
Final Thoughts: so far Pretty Things is two and two. Tried two of their beers and enjoyed both of them. Their labels are equally quirky as their brewing prowess which thankfully offers as much in flavor as they do something to look at.

Tap at the Meadhall. Glowing golden body with a creamy white head. The aroma and flavor is a sweet pineapple laden saison. It was rather good, but I’d wish it was a bit drier. Sweet palate, but not sticky.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a moderate white head. Nose has some citrus and sour notes in there. Taste is also fairly sour, but I get just a bit of a burnt element on the back end. Very odd.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bluejacket74 (992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - APR 20, 2013
22 ounce bottle, bottled March 2012. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a cloudy gold color with an inch white head that stayed around for a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The aroma is nice, the brew smells like cloves, yeast, oranges, and an overall earthy/spicy aroma that I can’t really identify. It tastes like citrus/citrus peel, herbs/flowers, grainy/wheat malt, cloves, bubblegum and peppery spice. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a bit slick and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, I’d certainly buy it again in the future. $7.49 a bottle.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 NachlamSie (2345) - Tennessee, USA - APR 17, 2013
UPDATED: APR 20, 2013 Bottle of the March 2012 batch from Kahn’s. This could be the best American Saison I’ve ever had. Most Americans tend to have a hefty yeasty and sweeter approach. Jack D’Or is bone dry and nicely spicy with tons of citrusy suggestions. The aroma is like that of cheese with peppers, lemons and banana peel. Palate is sptrizy which suits the dry, lemony finish well. The balance and delicacy of this beer is commendable, it could go toe to toe with Belgians, though true to American style, Jack D’Or is a bit more aggressive in its approach.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 EvanFriend (163) - New York, USA - APR 2, 2013
Straw, cloves, a little fruit, alcohol is pretty up front for a modest 6.5 per cent. Not bad, but not great.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Majin (189) - West Des Moines, Iowa, USA - APR 1, 2013
A straw colored beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of straw, lemon, and light notes of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon. A very bitter finish.
