Original review date 12/9/2008...
Bottled 11/2008 - first batch! Into Duvel tulip...
Pristine honey colored body (OK, a smidge of haze) with sparse carbonation rising to huge, tight 2-finger head that drops to 1.5 with good lacing.
A little soapy, floral hop presence. Slight ginger and nutmeg spice tones. Banana ester is prevalent also. Interesting.
Good old-world Saison yeast electricity with a lot of banana here as well. Grain has slight funk to it (not brett but faint sour hints). A little soap and flora on the hops. Solid.
Carbonation gives this a little bite along with mellow citurs nature. Finish is rather tight but decent. A little heavy on the banana ester/sweetness but the mix with floral hops keeps that in check.
I like this - good mix for a Saison/Belgian IPA. Very clean.

Not a beer that has it’s own distinct character. Very pale, light and easy drinking, lots to remind you what you’re drinking, musty yeasty astringent, and very good at it too.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A slightly disconcerting translucent pale yellow with a bit of white head to it. Fruity yeast byproducts dominate the aroma. Hops join in during the flavor, providing plenty of citrus notes. Backed by a light sweet malt. It’s thick but still manages to have very fluffy feeling carbonation. A little lingering bitterness and some minor alcohol heat rounds out the mouthfeel. Mmmmm tasty, I’m happy this is so easy to find around Boston.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, herbal notes, light sour lemon, and straw. It pours a cloudy dark brownish-orange with a one finger off-white head that fades to a thin film. There is some sporadic soapy webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy orange. There are some strange herbal notes in the middle. The finish has moderate sour lemon in the finish. It’s medium bodied with lively, but not prickly, carbonation. Overall, the herbal notes in the beer are a little strange.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle bought at Redstone Liquor Store (Stoneham, MA). Pours almost clear golden with foamy white head. Good lacing. Aroma: honey, malt, citrus, lavender, saison yeast. Same in taste, but more pronounced. Gets better as it gets warmer. Medium bodied, refeshing and enjoyable.

Yellow pour from draft, extravagant lacing of white foam. Citrus nose, tart citrus acid, ice cream effervescence.
