Meadowlark IPA is a new juicy and floral hoppy ale we brewed to celebrate the flavor and spirit of American craft brewing. This 7% alcohol beer has a sunny orange-gold colour, 60 International Bittering Units, a smooth mouthfeel and layers of soft flowery hops. We wove fragrant Citra and Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest with intensely fruity Galaxy hops from Australia. The malts are English pale & crystal, flaked barley with malty highlights from Munich malt and Roast Barley. The resulting patchwork is as “American” tasting as short ribs and slaw, and provides an excellent accompaniment to that kind of food too!

Pours golden tangerine with a nice fluffy head of white. Aroma is dank and super fruity (melons, acai?). Medium body, roasty malt notes stand out with a hint of caramel in the background. Hop bitterness is long, hard and penetrates your tongue. Finish is fruity and bitter. I prefer a more balanced hop bitter to malt sweet ratio but the hop flavor and aroma in this is truly unique and tropical.

A - Pours a hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, orange, citrus, and a bit of pine hops with some sweet caramel and biscuit malts. T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and citrus hops with some bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, some grassy and pine hops come through with some more resiny bitterness and some biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of grapefruit, pine, and grassy hops, bitterness, and sweet bready malts. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and bitter finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice hoppy IPA with a good hop profile and bitterness throughout and good overall balance.

(Draught) pretty glowing deep amber, with a creamy/soapy light tan head. Nose of caramel, sweet/syrupy citrus, malt comes through well, honeydew. Taste of caramel, lightly toasty, touch of sweaty socks, little grapefruit zest and pulp, avoids being syrupy on the palate or aggressively hoppy, but not really balanced either as the grapefruit tends to linger around.

Aroma is very fruity and citrusy (citra and galaxy). Taste is light bitterness up front followed by fantastic hop flavor with a moderately dry finish.

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy orange gold with a creamy/foamy 3 finger white head. Lots of lot pitted fruit with citrus for aroma. Med body or better. Flavor is fruit, fruit and fruit (and citrus) over a nice caramel backbone. It’s fairly floral as well. Finishing like bitter peach - if there is such a thing. It’s just excellent.

Pours cloudy pale straw color with brilliant white cap of foam that retains well. Nose floral with slight notes of tropic, citrus. Same notes on tongue with slight sticky malt sweetness, and some pine undertones. Creamy mouthfeel Medium carbonation. Somewhat dry finish with lingering bitterness. Fantastic first brew from Pretty Things Brewery.

Location: 22 oz bottle from The Hop, 9/30/12, Rating #2450

Aroma: The nose has some floral hops, a little pine, some earth, grass, and a notes of citrus
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a sheet of off-white head that coats the glass in lace
Flavor: It tastes lightly sweet, floral and citrus flavors, with a crisp, medium hop bitterness on the finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, creamy feel, a soft carbonation, and a clean, dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a heck of an IPA, it hits all the marks for me from nose and taste all the way through feel. Nicely done here by Pretty Things, but that is to be expected, as these guys know what they are doing when it comes to brewing beer. This one was pretty much world class-level for me. This rating is goes out the Billy Cundiff’s 1/4 day (with a game winner). It still shouldn’t save his job.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Cloudy straw color. Pure white head rises and then settles to a film. The initial aroma is intense citrus (lemon) and pine, and then it softens once it breathes. Medium bitter, slightly sticky, just the right amount of carbonation, and very refreshing. Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project has a winner in this one.
