COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meadowlark IPA is a new juicy and floral hoppy ale we brewed to celebrate the flavor and spirit of American craft brewing. This 7% alcohol beer has a sunny orange-gold colour, 60 International Bittering Units, a smooth mouthfeel and layers of soft flowery hops. We wove fragrant Citra and Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest with intensely fruity Galaxy hops from Australia. The malts are English pale & crystal, flaked barley with malty highlights from Munich malt and Roast Barley. The resulting patchwork is as “American” tasting as short ribs and slaw, and provides an excellent accompaniment to that kind of food too!

I had a couple of ~2 oz samples at the Boulevardia Taps & Tastes in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is hazed orange golden with not much of a white head. The aroma is tropical fruit; pineapple, mango all a bit floral. Caramel malt is also present, though behind the hops. The taste is bursting fresh pineapple mango floral hops, bit of straw, and then caramel malt grain in the back. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation and drying hops in the finish. The hops really stood out at the festival, I had been on sours for awhile, and this was a great change of pace.

At just on cool and into a bulbous tulip. Looks perfection. Well conditioned, tight and tidy with a mountainous foam that holds. The body a hazy deep orange, sunny and reflective. Rich, stinging to the olfactories, resinous, peachy, whole hop nose; plump with ripe citrus and stone-fruit, and candied fruit notes and bountiful with vinous, tight, higher alcohol notes; smoky, blue-Brie, nettles, pine mulch, eucalypt - Lovely (excuse the grammar - a lot going on!)! Wow, a real productive, complex mouthful. Big body, plump like the nose. Soft, prickly carbonation with a smooth finish. Taught, tight, drying and drawing on the salival glands is the general gist. Piney, resinous, woody; nettles and vine clippings come through as does some sodden earth, straw, hessian sack (?), oak (again?), peach Schnapps, white, soft rind cheese, mild smoke, a hugely progressive, herbal hop bitterness that leaves the palate parched but quenched. This is the bo-diddly and it is far from fresh. All yeasty funk is going on but it is still ripe with huge hop presence. I love it. Could it be just fit at a year in the bottle, or would this be just as grandish fresh on draught!? Massively complex and admirable IPA. First in a long while to break these points. Burdy nums!!! Pours hazy orange amber with a tiny white head. Aroma has a nice and solid bitter hop quality to it. Also has some sweet peaches, plums, ripe fruits in general, earthy notes and some sweeter malts in the background. Taste of nice citrusy fruits, refreshing bitter hops, pine-needles, grapefruit weak earth and sweeter malts.

Bottle. Pours yellow to amber with a small white head. Aroma is quite earthy, hoppy, bitter, grape fruit peel. Taste is less earthy, but still got some. A little dirty. Pretty bitter, not that fruity. The english malt character comes out pretty prominent as well. Funny international feel, and a nice, fresh beer.

Bottle courtesy of Andrew after the Brooklyn Half. Pours a clear golden body with thin white lacing. Aroma is clean malt, spice and citrus. Mouthfeel is spicy with notes of dry yeast, spice and clean malt. Not my preferred style.

Bottle pour. Smell is similar to a triple, buttressed with a solid backing of floral hops. Taste is a yeasty, hoppy magic. Fun middle of bubblegum. Glad to see this back in the NYC area.
