COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meadowlark IPA is a new juicy and floral hoppy ale we brewed to celebrate the flavor and spirit of American craft brewing. This 7% alcohol beer has a sunny orange-gold colour, 60 International Bittering Units, a smooth mouthfeel and layers of soft flowery hops. We wove fragrant Citra and Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest with intensely fruity Galaxy hops from Australia. The malts are English pale & crystal, flaked barley with malty highlights from Munich malt and Roast Barley. The resulting patchwork is as “American” tasting as short ribs and slaw, and provides an excellent accompaniment to that kind of food too!

Big aroma in this IPA with citrus, caramel and a touch of yeast. I appears as a cloudy golden amber. The taste is on the high side of medium, with a pleasant bitter but not overpowering. It is medium to full bodied with average carbonation and a medium light bitter finish. Overall very tasty and enjoyable, maybe one of my top 10 favs.

Bottle from Decicco, bottled Aug 2012. Nice hazy copper with lasting head and lace. Floral citrus and woody hop aroma. Toasted fruity melon toffee sweetness with juicy hops and juicy fresh hoppy slightly toasty malty roundness and medium assertive finish medium dry. Nice soft mouthfeel and carbo. Excellent balance. Fucking excellent.

For the most part I think this is a great beer. The aroma is a very pleasant floral and earthy while the flavor tended more towards peppery than the soft floral notes their website alleges. I was glad for this. The mouthfeel seemed a bit thinner than I’d like and there was a distinct, although minor fruity-sourness to the finish. The joy of Galaxy hops is a bit hidden in the pepper/spice and floral notes of the flavor. Although there is a touch of citrus/orange for contrast, the less common notes of passionfruit were undetectable.

De color naranja, luminosa. Espuma blanca de retención media. Aromas suaves a frutas tropicales, fondo terroso y algo de miel. Cuerpo medio, resinosa. Gasificación media. En boca tropical, amarga pero también está presente la malta. El alcohol no se nota. Regusto ligeramente amargo. Muy equilibrada. Espectacular la etiqueta. Un cervezón!!

At just on cool and into a bulbous tulip. Looks perfection. Well conditioned, tight and tidy with a mountainous foam that holds. The body a hazy deep orange, sunny and reflective. Rich, stinging to the olfactories, resinous, peachy, whole hop nose; plump with ripe citrus and stone-fruit, and candied fruit notes and bountiful with vinous, tight, higher alcohol notes; smoky, blue-Brie, nettles, pine mulch, eucalypt - Lovely (excuse the grammar - a lot going on!)! Wow, a real productive, complex mouthful. Big body, plump like the nose. Soft, prickly carbonation with a smooth finish. Taught, tight, drying and drawing on the salival glands is the general gist. Piney, resinous, woody; nettles and vine clippings come through as does some sodden earth, straw, hessian sack (?), oak (again?), peach Schnapps, white, soft rind cheese, mild smoke, a hugely progressive, herbal hop bitterness that leaves the palate parched but quenched. This is the bo-diddly and it is far from fresh. All yeasty funk is going on but it is still ripe with huge hop presence. I love it. Could it be just fit at a year in the bottle, or would this be just as grandish fresh on draught!? Massively complex and admirable IPA. First in a long while to break these points. Burdy nums!!! A medium-light golden brew. Frothy white head that sticks around a while. Super aromas- very Maine beerish. Lots of flowers and spice. Very fragrant. Lovely. Then, we get to the flavors - VERY VERY fresh. God - I love Pretty Things! Super fresh flavors, lots of hoppy layers. Not thick and gooey at all. Fragrant and fresh. Super drinkable. Super well-balanced. This is da bomb!

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2013 Bomber thanks to WillRunForBeer. Pours a hazy golden orange color with a nice creamy head that fades very slowly and leaves great lacing. Very nice floral and citrus aroma with some noticeable malt too. Taste has a nice light sweetness with a moderate bitterness. Fresh cut flowers, peaches, apricots, and oranges with a great bready malt backbone too. Very smooth. Medium body, mouthfeel is oily, slightly creamy, very soft carbonation. Great IPA. Re-rate 9/23/13 - Had this again and want to bump it higher. This is a great complex IPA that also very easy to drink. Yum.
