Looks like it was bottled in July 2012--what the hell? why is this just getting into California. Stupid distributors. Yep, upon first popping the cap, I get some dying hops. Lame. Slightly hazy yellow gold with a 1 1/2 finger off-white head, good retention. Despite being a couple months old, there is still some good resiny pineapple and Citra hops, some lightly toasty malts behind. Flavor adds a bit of herbal hops and still has the aforementioned good hop flavor, but also the old hops. Just a little bit of malt sweetness is tempered by bitterness that peaked at a 7 in the semi-dry finish, earthy. Medium body with light smooth carbonation. I bet this would’ve been quite tasty if I had a fresher bottle--no complaints other than the age.

Pretty Things Meadowlark
Bomber bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy reddish golden with a small offwhite head that is rather quick to dissipate while leaving some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet and fruity with toffee, grapefruit juice, dried apricot, lemon zest, orange zest, lemon grass, pine needles, cedar, dried lime and hints of caramel. Taste is bitter and fruity with bread, toffee, pine needles, cedar, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest, dried apricots, unripe mango, green tea and dried lime. Mouthfeel is tiny crisp, slightly round, slightly astringent and medium bodied. finish is bitter and tiny fruity with crackers, toffee, pine needles, grapefruit juice, dried apricot, cedar and lemon grass. A great tasty IPA.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of saxo. Pours golden with a slight haze and a white head. Fresh, citrusy hop accents in the nose. Medium body, a sweet fruitiness but the solid and crisp hops soon take over. A little dusty perhaps. 050413

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich hops, flowers, peach, apricot, citrus and malt. Long bitter finish.

Sampled at Dice’s going away party. Hazed honey golden. Flowery hops with caramel is smelled. Passion fruit, too. Finky fruot is going on in the flavor. Bitterness that is big but not obtrusive. Citrus hops, honey, and big malts. Almost a double and flavorful enough to be one.

Medium, just yellowish head with some lace, fed by finely pearling pale copper-amber beer. Very (muscat)grapey hops (beautiful!), cane sugar, exotic fruit. Maybe a tad unidimensional, but impressive all the same. Bitter-hoppy-fruity. Difficult to add more. Exotic fruit, but bit metalllic, quinine-like bitterness. Not very well-bodied; spritzy and just a bit watery. Well - it’s an outspoken IPA. If you’re looking just, for that, it’s near-perfect.
