Rich candy-like sweetness up front, heavy mouthfeel, notes of caramel and toffee, a touch bready with almost a scotch-ale-like malt quality, very smooth finish. Low bitterness for a barley wine.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 7/20
I am disappointed. This one gets great ratings but has no barely wine taste or smell. Ruby red in color with mild head and lacing. I am ready to move on to the next beer!

Bottled Nov 2011. Hazy deep amber with tiny off white head. Nose has some toffee and a lot of dark fruit. Very sweet up front, a little hollow in the middle, with some hops in the finish. Very smooth body, medium thick.

Bottle, shared at the Boxing Day tasting at TimEís place in Calgary. Tawny amber body, creamy golden head. Sweet nutty toffee, lightly toasted, much like a wheat wine. Very nice indeed.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Gregg657 (thanks a lot, Pete), pours a caramel / dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out caramel, dark fruits, toffee, and bready malts. Flavour brings out toffee, dark dried fruits, and caramel bready malts. Very well-balanced, with perfect sweetness and the alcohol is well-situated. Great stuff.

Tap at Rail Trail, big english body lots of malty not quite chewy but almost definitely coating perhaps oily, taste is more of the same with slight hints of burn if you chug too fast as the bar is closing.. big drink.. but not all that much flavor.

Aroma is toffee, malts and strong nuttiness. The flavor is malts, heavy toffee, nutty notes, a hoppy undercurrent and an acidic/lactic/sourish finish.
