The beer poured a hazy brown color having a large beige colored head. The aroma was of toasted malt but with a hint of smoke. Toasted malt flavor also with a mild smokiness. Medium bodied.

Gathers a 1-finger mocha head above a tar/mahogany body.
Aroma of raisins, roasted malt, liquorice, toast. Hint of nuts. In keeping with the British interpretation of Brown-Ales. Unfortunately reminds me of the stale beer of pubs of yesteryear. Taste is malt, bread, brown sugar. Belgian influence perhaps. Creamy. Hop-bitters in the finish. No flavor just bitterness and some roasted coffee (yuk to the latter).

Bottle. Deep brown body with a frothy, beige head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted grain, nuts, caramel. Note of fruit and a hint of metal. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish. Nuts, roast and caramel tastes. Nice balance of a malty beer with bittering hops.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Roasted caramelly chocolatey aroma. Deep clear red colour. Chocolate and roasted malt in the taste as welll, good balance between malt and hops with focus on the malt, a bit sweet reminiscent of unmahsed malt. Medium body, lively carbonation. Nice brown ale, with lots of malty goodness.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle served in snifter glasses and shared over some cuban food. What a beer! Tastes like slightly sour and tangy fruit cake, sweet and thoroughly aromatic with dried fruits. Murky brown appearance, low foam. Palate is more carbonated than I had expected. Medium bodied. Excellent beer. Another winner from Pretty Things. These guys are batting 1.000 with me so far.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber bought @ Bierkompass.de. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown with a rather small frothy brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of spotty trace on the glass. Smell is malty and slightly earthy with caramel, dark bread, toffee, chocolate fudge, moist soil, charred wood, vanillin, liquorice fudge, moist grass and raisins in rum. Taste is bitter, slightly malty and earthy with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, sweet dark bread, moist soil, orange zest, cocoa powder, raisin bran, toasted cereal, charred wood and hints of banana bread. Mouthfeel is soft, dry, watery, round and light bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, sweet dark bread, moist grass, chocolate fudge, charred wood, vanilla fudge and hints of raisins. Very solid session brown ale.
