3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep, dark amber with full head that lingers with great lacing. If there is too sweet its almost there, still a light sorta thin body with an alcoholic overtone

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a dark body, with a large white head that diminishes slowly, leaving a good lace. Aroma of roasted malts, notes of raisins(I think). Amazing taste, warming alcohol, caramel, very sweet, but definately not cloying sweet, like a cognac I think. Oily texture, almost full bodied, low to average carbonation level. Perfect for the winter.

Primator Double Bock, 16.9floz/500ml bottle into a Samuel Adams glass; served cold.
Aroma: Malty, boozy. Chocolate and caramel. Sherry.
Appearance: Near opaque dark ruby body with a creamy, tan head.
Taste: Oooooooooooh yeah, good and boozy; there’s no subtlety here. Tastes like a nice oloroso sherry. So much caramel flavor. It’s almost identical to Samichlaus, but more malty and less sweet.
Palate: So rich and smooth. A nice warming, boozy finish.
Overall: At work I have walked right by this beer for months. SO MUCH WASTED TIME. This is a truly fantastic doppelbock.

Recenzja 30 lipca 2011 Koszmarnie słodkie, w smaku i zapachu dominuje niemal wyłącznie nuta alkoholowa (cała reszta jest ledwo wyczuwalna)

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, molasses, fruit (mostly grapes), faint roast, and alcohol. The alcohol becomes more noticeable as it warms. It pours a dark brown with some orange transparency when held to the light. It has a two finger tan head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy sweet brown sugar, lighter molasses, chocolate, and caramel. The finish has sweet fruit, light apple, and just a hint of roast. There’s a touch of alcohol there, but it’s mostly covered up by the sweetness. It’s full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, it’s sweet...real sweet. I generally don’t like beers this sweet, but for some reason this works for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2013 Glowing brown body and beige head. Mild chocolate, fig, woody, butter milk but certainly no off flavour. Full malty mouth feel, chocolate milk, light spices, warming but never burning alcohol. Very nice, smooth and very sweet but tasty. Bit fruity, so it’s almost an imperial sweet stout. :-) I like it a lot! Smooth and classic yet flavourful and rich. (50cl bottle from La Cervoiserie Limoges)

First reviewer! Surprisingly....
This is a big beer. Deep red opaque color with little head. Aromas of malt, chocolate and raisins. Big mouthfeel with flavors of deep malty chocolates with raisins, amaretto, and warming alcohol. This is a sipping beer and it shows. Unbalanced on the malt and sweet side, but still a good aperitif.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A touch sweeter than it’s German neighbors, but still good. Dried fruit, dark malt and molasses topped off with some apparent alcohol. Dark brown/black body with thin beige head. Very active carbonation, medium weight, slick body. Sweetness lingers in the mouth, alcohol in the throat. I’m drinking this out of season, would be much better in the winter/spring.
