3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mjakopa (106) - Maribor, SLOVENIA - JAN 3, 2013
Very strong aroma of alcohol with a slight hint of roastyness in the back. Taste is very sweet, but the alcohol isn’t as overwhelming as in the aroma. Aftertaste has a nice short finish, but leaves the beer fairly balanced.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 PlinyHarris (28) - - DEC 14, 2012
Some serious toffee and dried fruit tastes in this flat Czech beer. Really glad I was gifted it although I’d kept it refrigerated for nearly a year before I found out it was just over 10% rather than 24%. Take it between meals to fend off hunger for tea for another hour or two. I see others are describing it as over-the-top on here, but it’s acceptable as any strong beer can be for me. And by that I mean it’s brilliant.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2013 I assume, due to the high alcohol content, this beer is too sweet for me...it would be much better if it was a bit ’conservative’.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 ElDesmadre (999) - Mikołów, POLAND - NOV 20, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown, small head. Aroma is caramel and lots of fruit that seem to be on the edge between overripe and dried. Raisins, dates, figs, plums. Also, a pronounced (hazel)nuttiness, plus some alcohol. Likeable smell. Unfortunately, the taste is far too alcoholic and cloyingly sweet. Oily, heavy body, lots of alcohol fumes retronasal. Good quality German-style doppelbock but the style doesn’t suit my taste.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maekchu (1126) - Hirakata, JAPAN - NOV 18, 2012
2010 vintage bottle. Thanks to KyotoLefty. Aromas of pine sap, dark sugar, and maybe airplane glue. Clear dark brown color. Very sweet initial; mid palate lets the dark fruits out; final hits home with some good bitterness. Medium body. Crazy wild aromas, but flavors are more or less one dimensional.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 KyotoLefty (4777) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 17, 2012
2010 bottle from a supermarket in Prague. Nose of brown sugar, fruitcake, some pine, and bit of phenols—rubber and berry. Dark brown with lace. Sweet, thick, flavor, brown sugar and molasses, a bit of minerals. Very sweet and dessert-like, though still drinkable and decent. Enjoyable but a bit over the top.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 humalahop (17) - HUNGARY - NOV 7, 2012
Nice dark brown color, minimum head, seet caramel aroma, wery wery sweet taste with a lot alcohol, hint of raisins and plums. Not bad beer but too sweet, sickly for me.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 engelschalk (144) - Trnava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - NOV 4, 2012
Ruby almond color with nice head. Aroma is malty with hints of cognac. Taste is full of roasted malt, alcohol and nice buttery finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 omikr0n (441) - Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC - NOV 1, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark red to black color with decent tan head. Aroma is malt, licorice, caramel. Flavor is very sweet with licorice, caramel, malt and alcohol. It’s a pity for the overwhelming sweetness, that overshadows other flavors. It would probably be a really great beer otherwise. It’s still quite good though.
