UPDATED: MAR 25, 2015 Bottle at Whole Foods - Dark Brown syrupy mess. Tastes like someone poured alcohol into a bottle of watered-down Ovaltine. Way too sweet. Bit of Roastyness there, too. Tasted more like a strangely sweet Imperial Stout than a Dopplebock.

Clear dark red brown. Aroma of dried plum and chocolate. Very sweet and unbalanced taste. Lots of alcohol in the aftertaste. Not round at all.

I really liked this beer, but then again, I tend to like very Doppelbock I drink. It was overly sweet and a bit unrefined but the flavors and aromas were good. Tasted and smelled of dark fruit, brown sugar and chocolate. The alcohol presence is certainly there.

Shared bottle at Cardinal (mandag i annen). Pours clear brown. Aroma of dark dried fruits, brown bread, malt, glue. Taste sweet and fruity with dark dried fruits. Very sweet aftertaste.

.5L bottle served in a snifter. Looks as expected: clear, dark red-brown with a decent light tan head. Some spotty lacing. Sweet, boozy and malty aroma. Flavor: too sweet, even in the finish. Feel: medium+ body; sticky and syrupy, with medium-light carbonation.

Ruby color, perfect head. And the good things end with the appearance. Aroma is mix of roasty malt and caramel, plus awful smell of boiled rotten potatoes. Disgusting. Taste is Very sweet. Some alcohol at finish. Nice texture- like syrup, thick, but it IS syrup sweet. Dissapointment.

Pours a dark clear very beautiful amber color with a thick creamy nice of white head with amazing lacing. Aroma is fresh pruns And some figs and dark fruits and red candy licorice and a hint of alcohol. Taste follows the aroma with some hints of oak bourbon barrels and chocolate cherries and a touch of charred malts and smokyness extremely smooth and a bit creamy and complex. This is a very delicious brew. On the sweeter side but very nice. Reminds me of a complex bourbon barrel aged stout with a lot of complexity.
