From the bottle pours a rich, dark brown with a light, creamy head that dissipates too quickly. Aroma is of very sweet malts with an almost brown sugar note. Taste is incredibly sweet, a bit to much for me. The sweetness overpowers any malt and the finish has a overtly alcohol nature to it. Much sweeter than most other DB’s I’ve tried. Not a favorite at all.

From the bottle; beer #1 in a doppelbock blind tasting.

Maybe the darkest beer in the lineup. An overly strong prune malt aroma and flavor. Alcohol definitely present, the strongest alcohol character of the lineup. It had the rye/spicy/licorice/cardamom that was more present in the Celebrator but nonexistent elsewhere. Its not refined and it has a strong European "bang for your buck" feel. However, it has way more character than a lot of the boring doppelmalts and in an Eastern European pinch this would work very well. I would actually wonder how this ages (ah, blasphemy). My #2 beer of the tasting, which in came in 4th out of 5.

From the bottle; beer #1 in a doppelbock blind tasting.

Cola colored pour. Alcohol forward on the aroma with some rotten fruit. Extremely sweet, candi sugar, sickly even, again very fruity. I find myself wondering, with some degree of concern, whether doppelbocks were always this sweet and I just hadn’t cared in the past. Fortunately, that turns out not to be the case. This turns out to be the worst of the bunch.

Bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, a touch of wood and subtle dried dark fruits. Flavour is quite sweet, with cloyingly sweet candied sugar and woody dark fruits. Too sweet for my palate, but drinkable in small amounts. Not bad.

BOTTLE 50 CL (which is huge for this beer). Big burnt sugar/caramel sweetness with hints of sweet chocolate and luscious alcohol (less in aroma, more in taste). The aroma also has some avocado or fresh cut pumpkin freshness. Light bitterness, along with the alcohol spice, balance some of the sweetness out. Simple, but intense.

Butelka 0,5 l. Trochę zakręcony jestem, bo producent informuje, że to porter a Ratebeer kwalifikuje to piwo do podwójnego koźlaka. I skłaniam się ku temu drugiemu. W aromacie czuć słody melanoidynowe i nuty karmelowe. Piana beżowa, średnio pęcherzykowa, nietrwała, nie znaczy szkła. Kolor rubinowy, przejrzysty. W smaku króluje słodycz, która dość dobrze przykrywa wysoki alkohol. Lekko grzeje w przełyku. W smaku także suszone owoce, śliwki itp. Wysycenie bardzo niskie. Piwko zdecydowanie do powolnego sączenia.

Warka 22.04.2014. Kolor ciemnorubinowy, klarowne. Piana niska, szybko opada do cienkiej obraczki i nie znaczy szkla. W aromacie suszone owoce - sliwki, rodzynki, czeresnie, lekkie maliny i wisnie, dalej karmel, delikatna kawa i palonosc, w tle majaczy naprawde delikatny alkohol.

Interessant!! Mir persönlich aber zu süß-alkoholisch! 12/10/9/10
