bottle. Clear amber/brown colour, large head. Malty noise. Full-bodied, malty and caramelly flavours dominate. Not sweet, but pleasantly hoppy as well, with a good portion of Saaz hops. Slightly fruity as well. Very good.

No idea where I tasted this or how or with whom but my notes read, ’..rich buttery vanilla malt and raisiny fruit. Raisin aroma. Beautiful bronze ringed with froth..’. Sounds alright.

Tap at Angleterre, Helsinki. Reddish orange, small lacy head. Nutty caramel, malty and fruity nose. Strange, but very tasty and full flavor. Malts, bitter hoppiness which I’m not very familiar with and a tropical fruity tartness. Pretty messy and unappealing overall.

(Draught) Clear, darkish red-amber with a small head. Sweetish-caramely-malty aroma with some sourness. Sweet-sourish-caramely and moderately acidic, a bit fruity flavor. Light to medium-bodied with balanced, slightly sharp carbonation. A sweet and simple Czech brew.

Keg (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Dark orange, thin head. Slightly sweet malty aroma - but you have to search for it. Sweet mellow malt, akin to red ales. Nutty in places. Fun interesting lager, much more character than light ones, but still just a lager.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Toasty and bready malts are strong in the nose with some dark fruity esters. Light haze to the deep amber copper coloured body topped by a creamy, fine bubbled, sticky off white head that lasts well. Assertive bitterness matches well to the intense bready malt sweetness. Medium body with strong, fine bubbled effervescence that really opens up the palate. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (BB 09/05/08, Brewery Creek, Sep-07).

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reddish amber colour with nice head. Aroma is caramel malts and some tart plums. Lots of malt and caramel with great balance. Nicer then the overly sweet higher abv primators.

Bottle, Brewery Creek
Bright brick red, great loose head. Rich nose of caramel, toast and a complex dusty, fruity yeast note. Crisp and clean on the palate with earth, toast, caramel...the complex simplicity of the finest East Van pho’. This lager’s brilliance really creeps up as I work through the glass.
