Thanks again goes out to D. Kurtz for hooking me up with 3 of these rarities-Maibock, Dark Lager & Double Bock. Pours Clear dark red/brown beer with a large beige head. Aroma is malty sweet with notes of coffee and caramel. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, grainy hops. Nothing special but a great beer when you want to keep it simple.

4/5 i mörkhet. Luktar lätt maltigt, nästan lite bränt. Maltig, lite soyaktig, smakar lite honung. Söt besk eftersmak.

Bottle. Dark brown body with a ruby-red hue, small white head. Nose is sweet malts, "Hapĺ" nougat bread spread (Norwegians might get this reference, others might just NOT... :-)) and hints of milk chocolate. Taste is dark malts, malt extract, more dark malts and hints of nuts and nougat. Some vague hints of toffee and roasty malts come through as the beer warms up a bit. A whole lotta maltin’ goin’ on here; this is a bit one-tracked in composition but otherwise a pretty OK dunkel.

Bottle 500 ml
Aroma gentle essence-wrap of dark malts. Hints of cherry wood sap and honey. 7-
Appearance clear light garnet with brown shade to it. Medium beige head. Rings of lace.4-
Flavor and Palate : Medium full bodied. Gentle carbonation , light prune notes show up front. Touch of brown sugars with woody hints. Thankfully drier second half. Overall I think that it is still overly sweet. Otherwise solid offering.

[Bottle] Dark reddish brown hue, a little foamy but not lasting foam. Maltty, roasted nutty chocolate aroma with some mild fruit and peppery spice from the hops. Smooth, lightly crabonated chocolaty palate, some nutty dryness and a decent amount of hoppy bitterness in the finish for the style. Pleasant easy drinker with a nice amount of flavor.

Test vom 20.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,10,11,10,9,11 - 10,30

500ml bottle in a shaker. Pours brown with a thick, cream-colored head. Aroma of sweet malts, a little resin, and light hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. A decent beer but nothing special.

Bottle. Clear, dark brown with a hint of red and a pretty nice beige bumpy head that leaves decent lacings. Big aroma of toasty butterscotch, syrup bread, chocolate coated toffee, nuts, some mineral and a hint of grassy hops. Some coffee also show up. Taste is sugary sweet and smooth with caramel, toasty butterscotch, syrup, bread and a hint of chocolate and just a slight of bitterness. A bit watery. Thin body, smooth mouthfeel with very low carbonation. Good aroma but way too sugary sweet and thin. Decent though.
