[Bottle] Dark reddish brown hue, a little foamy but not lasting foam. Maltty, roasted nutty chocolate aroma with some mild fruit and peppery spice from the hops. Smooth, lightly crabonated chocolaty palate, some nutty dryness and a decent amount of hoppy bitterness in the finish for the style. Pleasant easy drinker with a nice amount of flavor.

500ml bottle in a shaker. Pours brown with a thick, cream-colored head. Aroma of sweet malts, a little resin, and light hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. A decent beer but nothing special.

Bottle. Clear, dark brown with a hint of red and a pretty nice beige bumpy head that leaves decent lacings. Big aroma of toasty butterscotch, syrup bread, chocolate coated toffee, nuts, some mineral and a hint of grassy hops. Some coffee also show up. Taste is sugary sweet and smooth with caramel, toasty butterscotch, syrup, bread and a hint of chocolate and just a slight of bitterness. A bit watery. Thin body, smooth mouthfeel with very low carbonation. Good aroma but way too sugary sweet and thin. Decent though.

Halfway between the stark, sharp dunkels that I experience (American, Czech) and the bastardized (yes, I said it), mostly but not exclusively Polish versions. This has a soft medium sweetness, slight caramel, moderate cola, in the flavor profile. Not a lot else, excepting maybe a late acrid coffee-grounds flavor that is welcome. Hops? Nah! Almost no bitterness. Maybe a bit of dusty flower in there. Aroma is woodsy and pretty fresh, caramel, slight hay. Lingering head, looks a totally normal clear medium to dark brown.

Listed as a dark lager and definitely drinks like one. Big flavours for a sub 5% beer. Chocolate and coffee are dominate and the finish is oily and reasonably smooth. Big, bold and flavourful. Would be an excellent winter lager for those looking for a bit less heft than a doppelbock.

was hoping it would be a Munich dunkel when I bought it, guess not. 500ml brown bottle. It pours a cola brown with a foamy head that leaves cobwebs of lacing. The smell is interesting, it almost has the smell of ovaltine, but with a slap of bread and honey. The hops, like in the other primator brews, were up front and herbal/grassy/medicinal. In this particular brew, they could have done without the hop in the aroma. The flavor is okay, the hops are overbearing with herbal character, it kind of ruins the already weak taste. The primator beers are just hopped in the wrong way for me. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-05-2010 03:40:21
